Breast Cancer Awareness

Super hyped New-comer to the Charlotte fitness scene is Barry’s Bootcamp – the national craze that’s opening in Atherton Mill any day now. Ahead of their much-anticipated grand opening of their famous “Red Room” (gulp), they’re hosting pop-up events around the city. Welcome to Charlotte, Barry’s!

FITNESS EVENTS

CrossFit Open

October 10th through November 11. Find a participating studio and join in on the 5-week-long fun. Each week, a new workout is announced on Thursday evening and participants have until Monday evening to report their score. There are scaled workouts available that are perfect for anyone new to the sport. Aim for fun or for the CrossFit Games, either way you’re sure to feel accomplished during this challenge with fun themed workouts and expert coaching.

Hopebuilders 5k

October 12, 8am, Levine Children’s Hospital. Benefiting Levine Children’s Hospital, take part in this fun, family-friendly event. Run by yourself, with a team, or “virtually.”

White Squirrel Classic

October 12, Brevard, NC. When your starting line is Oskar Blues Brewery, you know you’re in for a fun race. The White Squirrel Cycling Classic is a great way to take in the changing leaves and kick off the fall season around the base of Pisgah National Forest and along the French Broad River.

Yoga + UpDog Kombucha

October 13th, Bold Missy Brewery. Get VIP access to Bold Missy before they open their doors to the public on Sunday, October 13th with yoga, samples, and a half pint of Bold Missy beer to enjoy after your workout.

Biketoberfest with Sustain Charlotte

October 13, 11:30am-6:30pm, Uptown. Bring the whole family for a fun, full-day outdoor adventure where attendees bike around the city to collect stamps on their official event passport for their chance to win prizes at the event’s after-party at Triple C Brewing Co.. Funds raised go to Sustain Charlotte’s bike program that advocates biking for transportation- it’s good for you and the environment!

Eat the Frog Fitness Sneak Peek and Grand Opening

Sneak Peek October 14, Grand Opening October 29, Metropolitan. Another Charlotte fitness scene new-comer, Eat the Frog offers virtually guided workouts from morning to night so you can sweat no matter your schedule. Trainers are on hand for peak hours to assist with the video-guided workout.

Rocktober Fest Half Marathon and 5-Miler

October 19, 1224 E 7th Street. Leave your headphones at home for this one- they have your music options covered with live music along the course through Elizabeth and Plaza Midwood and a post-race festival at The Belk Plaza on The Greenway.

Hincapie Gran Fondo Bike Race

October 19. With 15, 50, and 80-mile courses this race has something for everyone, especially if you like hill climbs- your endurance will be tested as you weave through the beautiful SC mountains just outside of Greenville. Stick around for the post-race BBQ that afternoon and after party at Hotel Domestique that night with music, food, drinks, and cycling community celebs.

Big South 5k

October 26, 8am, Blakeney Shopping Center. A family-friendly event that raises money for area middle school athletic programs, this race will take place in South Charlotte.

Pancakes and Beer 5k

October 26, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery. Wind through LoSo (Lower Southend for the unhip like me) and refuel with a pancake and bacon breakfast at OMB. Your registration get you breakfast, a free beer, a long sleeve t-shirt, and admission to the post-race party. Prost!

Runway 5k

October 26. Aptly-named, you get to run on the CLT runway for this race!

Rugged Maniac

October 26, 9am-5pm, Piedmont Dragway in Julian. Add some play to your workout with obstacles like a water slide and trampoline before toasting your muddiness at the finish line with beer and a live DJ.

NAMIWalks Charlotte

October 26, 8:30am, Reedy Creek Park. Raise awareness and funds for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) during this 5k event.

Yacht Yoga for a Cause 3rd Saturdays

Yacht Yoga for a Cause is a unique event on a yacht on Lake Norman and happens every 3rd Saturday through October. Each weekend, a new charity beneficiary will receive the funds raised from an hour of flow followed by a social with Clean Juice. Get there early, they’ll get to flowin’ at 8:30am.
