#GetFitCLT – Our 17 Charlotte February Fitness Event Picks

The post-holiday slow down struggle is real. After being go go go for what felt like months at the end of 2019, January felt like being forced to walk in slow motion when you’re a nearly professional-level, born to frolic social butterfly. And social butterflies are awkward at best at slowing down. If your holiday calendar was anything like mine, you probably felt like a professional party-goer by the time New Years rolled around. Resetting is in order. Whether you’ve started 2020 off with a bang or made this your “test month”, it’s time to make February your best month yet. Spread those wings again and focus your energy on your fitness goals. As always, we’re here for your health and fitness needs with the best upcoming Charlotte-area events. Did we miss something incredible that you want to share? Check out the link to our submission form for #GetFitCLT at the bottom of this post.

New Class Alert at Vibe5

Check out the new VIBE5 class with Brie Hollingsworth leading a music-driven strength training session. Currently available Tuesday/Thursday mornings, but look for BASE Method at 9:30am on Saturdays starting in February.

Frigid Trail Race & Plunge (5k/10k)

Channel your inner polar bear on 2/8 at the US National Whitewater Center’s Frigid Race & Plunge. Choose from 3k or 10k distances with an icy dip at the finish.

Cupid’s Undie Run

I was about to write something snarky about begging to catch cold if you go outside pants-less in February, then I read this on the Cupid’s Undie Run website: We run in our undies because those affected with NF (a genetic tumor disorder) can’t cover up their tumors to feel more comfortable, so why should we? Ok, carry on, pants or none. The mile(ish) run takes place in uptown on 2/8 benefiting NF research with a fun finish line party.

OH Well’s Fitness Series at Optimist Hall

Get a sweat in then explore the city’s newest, coolest area with Optimist Hall’s OH Well fitness pop-ups: NC Yoga bar on 2/8 and TreadHAPPY on 2/29. Refuel with a smoothie from Village Juice Co., a grilled cheese from Papi Queso, or… a marg from El Thrifty Social- you deserve it.

Sol Flow with Be Yoga

Find your zen at The Metropolitan for this special flow on 2/11 with SweatNet.

Girls’ Night Out Hip Hop Class at Hilliard Studio Method

Channel your inner Beyonce with an hour-long class of choreographed hip hop. Arrive early for a pre-class social. At $40, this is the best girls’ night bang for your buck in CLT!

Also at HSM, take 14 classes this month for the Love Yourself Challenge and you will receive a self care swag bag of goodies including a free HSM class and a gift from Infinity Med Spa and Wellness! Plus, everyone that completes the challenge will be automatically entered to win a custom facial from Infinity Med Spa and Wellness. To sign up, grab a challenge card from the front desk at HSM.

Love is in the AIR

Hit AIR Aerial Fitness’ South Park studio on 2/13 for a partner workshop focusing on alignment, balance, and strength while creating a bond between partners- just in time for Valentine’s Day! Tickets are available for both couples and individuals.

Beers & Burpees in the Red Room at Barry’s

Remember “stoplight parties” in college? You wore red for taken, yellow for somewhere in the middle, and green if you were single. Ever thought to combine that rite of passage with a killer workout? Me either, but I love it. Head to Barry’s Bootcamp on 2/13 for a Valentine’s themed workout and social with fellow attendees in red (taken), pink (it’s complicated), or white (single) benefiting CLT Foundation. I might go rogue and wear black (like my soul… JK)- see you there!

Charlotte 10-Miler and 4-Mile Run

With unique options for distances and a great course in Ballantyne through McMullen Greenway and 4 Mile Creek along paved trails, this race had become an area favorite. Not to mention some sweet swag- all finishers get a medal, quarter zip (YES), and there’s a $10 mimosa celebration at the finish. Catch this race on 2/15.

Cupid’s Cup 5k

If 10 and 4-miles distances aren’t quite in your wheelhouse yet, there’s another race on 2/15 clocking in at just 3.1 miles! Join in and help raise funds for the Cardiac Rehabilitation programs at Atrium that provide funding for education, outreach, rehabilitation equipment, and patient scholarships.

Weekly Yoga at Lenny Boy

Lenny Boy hosts a $5 class with rotating instructors every Saturday at 10am plus a 6oz pour of kombucha to rehydrate after class. No judgement if you also grab one of their delicious beers- have to replace those electrolytes somehow. 2/15 will be a special yogasculpt class with @debbiecfit for a beat-based, bodyweight 60-minute sesh for all levels- just bring your mat!

Great Backyard Bird Count Family Hike

Stroll through the beautiful botanical gardens at UNC Charlotte on 2/16 while you try to spot birds introduced during the pre-hike info session. Cap the day off with a felt bird craft as part of your ticket price. This one would be perfect for families!

AllState Hot Chocolate 15k/5k

Come together in the name of hot cocoa on 2/22. There will be plenty of the race’s yummy namesake plus snacks at the finish and all participants will get a fleece-lined hoodie in their goodie bags- perfect for continuing your training even when temps drop.

NC Yoga Bar at Top Golf

Find your flow then perfect your swing at Top Golf on 2/22. Sounds like a winning combo to me!

Carolina Goat Yoga Class

That is not a mistype. Just 5 minutes outside of Mooresville, Carolina Goat Yoga in Mount Ulla offers something for the yogi that has seen it all. Join the fun on 2/29.
