VENTURING OUT
Visit Búho Bar, opening Oct. 1
16 floors above Charlotte’s city streets, the new Búho Bar at the Grand Bohemian will offer handcrafted cocktails, tapas and city views from an open-air lounge. View the wine list here. They open on Thursday, Oct. 1.
Crossroads Cinema
Oct. 1 | Camp North End
Enjoy a movie under the stars at Camp North End’s Crossroads Cinema, an outdoor film series featuring a double-header this week of Moana and Pirates of the Caribbean. Bring your own chairs and blankets and pick up food from one of Camp North End’s food stalls to complete your night out.
Fall Flavors Wine Dinner

Thursday Night Pops
Oct. 1 | Stowe Park, Belmont
Grab takeout from a local Belmont restaurant and bring it to Thursday night Pops, a socially-distanced and free community concert series that runs through Oct. 15. This week, Heroes at Last, an acoustic trio, will take the stage.
Fall Awakening
Oct. 1-2 | The Music Yard
The Music Yard will host another socially distanced concert, Fall Awakening, as part of its fall drive-in series. The two-day event will feature performances by Manic Focus, Dredlok, Clark on the Sax, Bitsky and Kckbck. Car-side food and beverage service provided.
Modified Gallery Crawl
Oct. 2 | Dilworth Artisan Station
Head to Dilworth Artisan Station for a modified Gallery Crawl, where artists will have their studios open for guests to peruse and shop during those hours (masks and social distancing required). Several of the artists are working on mini 8″x8″ paintings with a dog theme, which will be available for purchase on Friday with a portion of proceeds benefitting a local animal shelter.
Ballantyne Drive-In Movie Series: The BFG (Big Friendly Giant)
Oct. 2 | 6 pm
Head to Ballantyne for a drive-in movie. This time, it’s a screening of The BFG on the big screen. Registration is required and admission is $30 per vehicle. All proceeds benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.
Historic Rosedale Haunted History Tour
Oct. 2 | Rosedale Plantation
Haunted History Tours are back at Rosedale Plantation. Join the Charlotte Area Paranormal Society (CAPS) and Historic Rosedale staff to discover the stories of the 1815 house’s former residents who have chosen to remain behind. Limited to 20 guests.
Modifyed Opening Reception
Oct. 2 | Alchemy at C3Lab
This opening night celebration will feature work from artists Jason Watson, Francisco Gonzalez, Jonathan Pritchard, Ivan Toth Depeña, Kat Sanchez and Seirin Nagano, plus live music by Sweat Transfer with Alchemy dining available by reservation. Masks are required for entry.
What I Did Last Summer – Outdoor Performances

Opening of The Haunted Trail

Ready for a scare? Carrigan Farms will once again transform into its spooky counterpart, Scarrigan Farms, for the 2020 season. This year, advanced reservations and masks are required. The haunted trail is not recommended for children younger than twelve years old.
Drive-In Movie in Old Town Cornelius

Experience a classic drive-in at the Lake. This week, it’s a screening of The Wizard of Oz. Popcorn and concessions available.
OktoberFEST
Oct. 3 | Primal Brewery
Primal Brewery’s annual Oktoberfest event will include live music by Frankfurt Wheelbarrow, beer, food and a stein hoisting competition.
University City Farmers Market – Week 1
Oct. 3 | Shoppes at University Place
Don’t miss the grand opening of the University City Farmers Market, serving up local produce and food preparation programs for the community. They’ll operate through October, and will host local food talent, including farmers, artisanal food makers and pop-up chefs throughout the month.
Waxtoberfest
Oct. 3 | The DreamChaser’s Brewery
In Waxhaw, The DreamChaser’s Brewery will celebrate the release of their Waxtoberfest beer paired with food from Strudelteig food truck.

A Virtual SouthEnd ARTS Premiere Party
Oct. 2 | 7 pm
SouthEnd ARTS will premiere JUSTICE, a virtual art gallery exhibition, through a documentary-style art exhibition video inspired by past in-person events and the rich history of art in Charlotte, and art from the exhibition for sale.
Hola Festival Goes Virtual

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a virtual community celebration including musical entertainment, dances, culture and more.
Charlotte Podcast Festival
Oct. 5-30
Charlotte’s first podcast festival, a partnership between WFAE (Charlotte’s NPR News Source), Blumenthal Performing Arts, Queen City Podcast Network and Eclecs Creative Agency, sets out to inform, enrich and inspire audio storytellers and podcasters.
