El Puro Cuban Restaurant – Madison Park now has a new Cuban restaurant. This spot brings to South Charlotte the glamour and elegance of pre-revolutionary Havana, Cuba. Expect all of your favorite Cuban dishes.
Emmy Squared Pizza – The new Plaza Midwood pizza spot has now opened a second location in South End. It is located in the newly-built Hawk tower at the corner of Doggett and Hawkins near South End’s Design Center.
Firebirds – Now open in Huntersville at Birkdale Landing serving their traditional hand-cut steaks, seafood and more from a scratch kitchen.
Opening This Month
Benny Ferrovia’s – From the group who brought us Benny Pennellos in NoDa, their new South End location will be called Benny Ferrovia’s – Italian for railroad. The popular pizza concept has snagged roughly 1,600 sq. ft., including a covered patio, at 340 W. Tremont Ave.
Gilde Brewery – Gilde Brewery is bringing its heritage brand to the Queen City in Lower South End. The brewery will feature a top-of-the-line German-made brewhouse combined with German cuisine. They will blend the traditional German art of brewing with the creativity of the American craft beer movement.
Greco Fresh Grille – Greco Fresh Grill will be opening its newest location in the Sharon Corners Shopping Center. The first location opened in Blakeney in 2011 and has since expanded to include their other locations at Wesley Chapel, Colony Place, Steele Creek and Matthews.
Forty 8 Hundred – Forty 8 Hundred opens soon on Monroe Road (4800 Monroe, to be exact). Its owners are renovating the former McBonies Bar & Grill. They will serve brunch, ramen, oxtail and more.
Coming in 2022
The Salted Melon Market & Eatery – The team behind Reid’s Fine Foods is opening a new restaurant and market in the Lowe’s tower in South End. They will offer all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner. There will also be an expresso bar, bakery, and broth bar. Opening date will be announced in 2022.
Closing
GoodRoad CiderWorks – GoodRoad CiderWorks has closed its doors for good. The LoSo cidery cited hurdles that exist in the craft beverage world combined with difficulties from the pandemic.

BOCADO Bar + Diner – The Southern American bar and diner in the heart of South End will transform into a fantastical holiday pop-up bar, “Winter Wonder Bar.” BOCADO invites guests to deck the halls and celebrate the season with holiday-inspired cocktails available all day through New Year’s Eve. To compliment their holiday treats, they will service their full menu of southern favorites for brunch, lunch and dinner.
The Royal Tot – During the holiday season, the Belmont neighborhood’s rooftop tropical oasis will be known as one of two Sippin’ Santas in North Carolina. Sippin’ Santa is a tiki pop-up by Beachbum Berry that takes over bars across the U.S. Now open through the end of December.
What The Fries – What The Fries will offer family-size bread pudding tots in three holiday flavors including Purple Yam, Caramel Apple and Frosted Christmas Cookie. The family-size order will feed 8-10 and will cost $50 per pan, plus tax. For Christmas, pre-orders can be placed Dec. 6th – 20th for pick-up between 12pm and 4pm on Dec 23rd. Brixx Wood Fired Pizza + Craft Bar Gives Back to ISF from Nov 29-Dec 5
The Brixx meals for kids give back promotion is back this fall starting on November 30th and extending through December 6th.
