Now Open at The Market at 7th St
Soft opened Tuesday, 2/1, Grand Opening This Saturday, February 5th. Coming to CLT from Tallahassee FLA, and offering Liege Waffles. Which is What? Not to be confused with the other “Belgian” waffle (officially known as a Brussels waffle) Liege waffles are made of a thicker brioche-like dough and are scattered pre-cooking with pearl sugar, which creates unevenly distributed clusters of caramelized sugar. No need for toppings (although they’re offered), perfect for a hand-snack.
Milkbread
Davidson (624 Jetton Street #110)
Fans of the beloved Milkbread at Davidson’s Kindred restaurant have a new way to indulge their craving. Milkbread, an all-day cafe serving already legendary donuts, breakfast bowls, sandwiches, salads and various takes of the famed Milkbread, is now open in Davidson. A second location is planned for later this year in Plaza Midwood. Open 7 am – 9 pm.
The Royal Tot
Belmont (933 Louise Ave Suite 350)
If you got a sneak peek at The Royal Tot when they hosted their holiday pop-up, you’ll want to return now that they’ve officially opened. The tropical-themed bar offers guests a warm weather getaway in the middle of winter, complete with signature cocktails from beverage director Larry Suggs and seafood dishes from partner Paper Plane Deli & Market.
Sister
Plaza Midwood (1500 A Central Ave.)
Fans of Kiki Bistro and Soul Gastrolounge will find both familiar flavors and new favorites at Sister, which opened on Jan. 28 in the former Kiki Bistro space. Diners can expect Greek and Eastern Mediterranean fare, including Greek pastries, house-made gyros, souvlaki and Soul dishes like Asian glazed pork belly tacos, plus live DJs on weekends.
The Human Bean
North Charlotte (8156 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd.)
Fans of this Oregon-based drive-thru coffee stand can now get their fix in North Charlotte. The Human Bean is now open with hours from 5 am – 9 pm.
Bird Pizzeria
Optimist Park (510 E 15th St.)
Now open in Optimist Park, Bird Pizzeria serves to-go pies from a takeaway window. Dine al fresco on those warmer winter days.
PARA Charlotte
South End (235 W Tremont Ave Suite 100)
Alex Verica, formerly of Heritage Food & Drink, Dot Dot Dot and The Stanley, is taking the helm at PARA serving globally influenced small plates and creative cocktails. Reservations are now live on Resy.
Duck Donuts Fort Mill

Weekends just got sweeter with the opening of Duck Donuts’ third Charlotte-area location on Jan. 29. Find them in Fort Mill’s Brayden Village Shopping Center.
Night Swim Coffee – Uptown
Night Swim Coffee, the new brand from Not Just Coffee and Undercurrent Coffee is now open in Uptown at One Wells Fargo.
Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit Closes in South End
Charleston-based Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit has closed its Charlotte location after two years in business.

The Dumpling Lady launching permanent food truck residency at Resident Culture Plaza Midwood
The popular food truck will begin a permanent residency at Resident Culture on Feb. 5. The Dumpling Lady food truck will operate at Resident Culture in Plaza Midwood seven days a week (5-9 p.m. Monday-Friday, noon-9 p.m. Saturday and noon-8 p.m. Sunday) and will be available as a catering option for private events.
Opening soon: Harry’s Grille & Tavern, Quail Corners
Harry’s Grille & Tavern is expanding from its original Ardsley location. This month, South Charlotte will be able to enjoy American dishes including signature sandwiches, hand-cut steaks, seafood and more.
Alton’s Kitchen & Cocktails to reopen in March as new concept
First reported by Cornelius Today, Alton’s Kitchen & Cocktails will reopen in March as Peninsula Prime. In a Facebook post the new concept is described as a “Southern seafood and steakhouse” and will feature a new cocktail menu and wine list. .
Mochinut opening first NC location in Spring 2022
Coming this spring to the new Super G Mart in Pineville, Mochinut will open their first North Carolina location. The unique treat originated in Hawaii and is the union between a Japanese rice cake and American-style donuts.

Blaze Pizza offering a free pizza to community healthcare workers
To show their appreciation and mark National Pizza Day Blaze Pizza Charlotte-area locations are offering a free 11-inch Simple Pie through Wednesday, February 9.
The free pizza promotion is valid in-restaurant only, on any 11-inch Simple Pie—Blaze’s classic pizza made with mozzarella, parmesan, and red sauce—crafted with house-made original dough. Guests can order the gluten-free, keto, cauliflower, or high-rise crust options for an upcharge. 5th Street Group Reaches Million Dollar Milestone in “Tip the Kitchen” Initiative
The 5th Street Group, the team behind Church and Union Charlotte, announced that its “Tip the Kitchen” initiative has generated over one million dollars for its back-of-house staff as of Jan 18. The program, established in April 2021, was created to help address the wage gap between front-of-house employees and the culinary team. 5th Street Group ownership matches collective kitchen tips up to $500 a day per restaurant.
What the Fries brings back crab rangoon after “Food Paradise” debut
Following the debut of What The Fries’ chefs Jamie Barnes and Greg Williams on the Cooking Channel’s “Food Paradise” in January, Crab Rangoon Fries will be back on the menu at the restaurant in Pineville. What you’ll get: hand-cut fries topped with scratch-made crab rangoon fritters, Yum Yum Sauce, scallions, sweet and sour sauce and crispy wontons for $18.

Stoke brings back weekday breakfast and lunch

Spindlebar, Optimist Hall’s go-to for beer, wine and spirits, recently launched a new cocktail menu for your sipping pleasure. New on the menu:
- “Second Kick Of A Mule” with house ginger beer, lime, and your choice of spirit (vodka, gin, bourbon, rum, or tequila)
- “Go for Gingham” with Gin, Blood Orange, Apertivo, Lemon

F&B Social Club launches to offer culinary experiences across the city
Founded by Michael Pruitt, Food & Beverage Social Club (also referred to as F&B Social Club) recently launched in Charlotte, offering members access to premier food and beverage experiences from chef-led cooking classes to day-trips and food crawls. Learn more about membership here.
For February, you can join Food & Beverage Social Club and Legion Brewing for an interactive beer pairing dinner.
This event will take place on Thursday, February 24th from 6:00-8:00pm at Legion Brewing in SouthPark, Charlotte. The evening will showcase a variety of Legion’s beers alongside a sampling of their delicious menu. Legion representatives will teach attendees about the brewing process, why certain beer types taste better with specific foods, and tips for pairing your meals with beer at home.
