With warmer days on the horizon, the weather isn’t the only thing heating up this month in Charlotte. The culinary scene is set to welcome anticipated newcomers, roll out new offerings and keep us on our toes with fresh events. Read on for the must-know foodie news for March 2022.

JUST OPENED

Cicchetti re-opens in Uptown

After shuttering their doors due to the pandemic only five months after opening, Cicchetti is welcoming back guests at the corner of E. Trade and N. College Streets in Uptown. While retaining the bar’s original bank tower lobby entrance, owner Pierre Bader recently created a second entryway to Cicchetti in the vestibule of neighboring sister restaurant Aria Tuscan Grill, connecting the wine bar to its sibling via a new doorway and descending staircase into Cicchetti.

Pasta & Provisions on Park Road Re-opens for Dinner on the Patio

Starting this Friday, March 4th, P&P is extending its retail hours at Park Rd to 8pm and will again be serving dinner on Friday nights. They haven’t been open for dinner in 2 years and with spring around the corner, are excited to get the patio packed out again, serving beer and wine.

HopFly Brewing Company

HopFly Brewing opened last weekend in the former Unknown Brewing space in South End. The brewery, which got its start in Rocky Mount, will offer a number of IPAs, craft cocktails and will have an in-house food truck, Katsu Kart.

Gilde Brewery

Now you won’t have to grab your passport to experience an authentic German brewery experience. One of Germany’s oldest beer makers, Gilde, opened this past weekend in South End. On tap expect a Pilsner (their flagship brew), a pale wheat, lemon Sadler and more. 

Benny Ferrovia’s

Fans of Benny Pennello’s in NoDa now have another way to satisfy their pizza craving. Benny Ferrovia’s is now serving its iconic 28-inch pizzas in South End near Common Market and Bang Bang Burgers.

Smelly Cat Coffee House & Roastery

Re-opened March 1 in NoDa

Smelly Cat Coffee House & Roastery is reopening its indoor space in NoDa after operating its walk-up window throughout the pandemic. Guests can expect new, expanded hours, new coffee cocktails and new food offerings.

Ever Andalo

Opening March 3 in NoDa (formerly Crepe Cellar)

Fans of Crepe Cellar may have been sad about the NoDa staple shutting its doors, but the same team is getting ready to welcome back guests to Ever Andalo, a new concept concept focused on homemade Italian food.

Alton’s Kitchen & Cocktails to reopen as new concept

First reported by Cornelius Today, Alton’s Kitchen & Cocktails will reopen in March as Peninsula Prime. In a Facebook post the new concept is described as a “Southern seafood and steakhouse” and will feature a new cocktail menu and wine list.

Resident Culture Brewing Co. celebrates Women’s History Month & International Women’s Day on March 5 & 8

Featuring a women’s panel, a self-care and wellness session, a female entrepreneurs market, and two limited-release beers brewed by women and gender fluid individuals, Resident Culture, the Plaza Midwood brewery which recently added a second taproom in South End, has festivities planned for both locations. Most activities are free and open to the public, but some events require a reservation for entry.


The event at Resident Culture South End will take place on March 5 from 1-5 p.m. at 332 W. Bland St. and will feature the following activities:

  • 1-2 p.m. – “Luminary Voices: A Disruptive Gathering” Women in Beer National Panel
  • 2-3 p.m. – Fermented Beverage & Hospitality Industry Self-Care & Wellness Session led by Sun Counseling and Wellness
  • 2-5 p.m. – International Women’s Day Entrepreneurs Market

The event at the Plaza Midwood brewery at 2101 Central Ave. on March 8 is presented by Charlotte Lately and will feature separate morning and evening activities including:

Cabarrus Burger Madness kicks off on March 1 with brand new burgers from 17 participating restaurants. All month long, residents and visitors can savor the limited-edition menu items then vote for their favorite. The winner will be announced Friday, April 1.
