We know you love a nice rosé in the summer, as do we, so we reached out to some local experts on the topic to see what they’re pouring right now.
From Mark at Petit Philippe on Selwyn Ave
Our customers are really enjoying this Scribe Rosé from Andrew and Adam Mariani, two brothers who are fourth generation California farmers who decided open up their winery in 2007 on a site that pioneered pre-prohibition Sonoma Valley winemaking.
This rosé is 100% Pinot Noir with Aromas of white nectarine, salt water taffy, and honey blossom. The salty note carries over onto the palate with ease and lingers quite a bit. The overall balance is spot on with tart acidity countering the lush savory aspect of this Pinot Noir rosé.

At Mariposa Uptown
Mariposa’s Wine List is carefully curated by General Manager, and Level 3 Sommelier, Brad Grubb who shared that his pick for a rosé this summer is Orin Swift “Fragile” Rosé.
Brad explains the name Fragile is very tongue in cheek, as anyone who is familiar with Orin Swift’s winemaking style knows that he is anything but… This rosé is opulent and over the top, coming in at 15.3% ABV the wine is surprisingly well balanced. On the nose are wild strawberries and a touch of grapefruit, while in the mouth the wine settles down with red fruit and bright acidity.
It’s a fun wine, perfect for patio weather, and Brad shared with us that he would pair this rosé with the Hearth Roasted Salmon and Tuna Crudo on Mariposa’s menu.
Other Rosés at Mariposa:
- Carre Rosé
- NotteRosa Sparkling Rosé
- “The Ned” Pinot Gris (While technically an orange wine, this is done in the style of rosé by using skin contact during fermentation of a traditional white wine varietal. Pinot Gris naturally takes on a blueish-gray when ripe, so the skins can add a beautiful color to the wine, as well as complexity.)
And At McNinch House
McNinch House Restaurant sommelier Anthony ‘Wes” Wesley recommends Lu & Oly Flowerhead Rosé from the Mark Ryan Winery, Columbia Valley, Washington with notes of cherry, peach, apricot with bright acidity and hints of minerality. At McNinch House, wine is a real part of the experience where each night, their flight of wine pairings is coordinated by Wine Steward Anthony Wesley with the Chefs to accomplish the vision of each course. Their wine list (HERE) provides choices to complement the cuisine in all ranges, and is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including Wine Enthusiast Magazine’s Award of Distinction.
