20 NC Wineries to Visit This Fall

Did you know that North Carolina is home to almost 200 wineries that are spread out across the state? Maybe we should pledge to visit each and every one in 2022, as all are accessible by car from the QC. Some of our favorites are less than a one hour drive away.

Special Thanks to Veronet Vineyards and Shelton Vineyards for sponsoring this round-up of need-to-know info.

Veronét Vineyards & Winery

1549 Ike Brooks Dr, Kings Mountain, NC 28086
Travel Time: Approximately 37 minutes

Located in Kings Mountain, NC, Veronét is very easy to get to for an afternoon of sipping and scenery. Veronét offers their wine by a tasting flight, by the glass, and by the bottle. Tasting Flights available at the bar from 12-5:30pm, all seating first come first serve, with (yum) apple cider mimosas in the fall. Veronet is launching a new fall menu with updated charcuterie and new menu items, and they’re opening a market space with tons of gourmet treats for you to enjoy during your visit.

When you arrive, we recommend ordering a tasting flight so you can see what you’d most enjoy by the glass or by the bottle. With your tasting flight, you’ll receive three 3 oz. glasses of wine to enjoy seated inside the tasting room or outside on the patio.

Open hours: Friday – Sunday, 12-6pm, Black Friday 12-6pm, Closed Christmas Weekend

Shelton Vineyards

286 Cabernet Ln, Dobson, NC 27017
Travel Time: Approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes

Shelton Vineyards was founded in 1999 by brothers Charles M. Shelton and Ed Shelton, in what is now known as the Yadkin Valley American Viticultural Area. Envisioned as a new agricultural resource for an area once dependent on tobacco farming, the Shelton family has helped put North Carolina back on the map as one of the top wine-producing states in the nation. Now one of the largest vineyards on the East Coast, Shelton Vineyards is known for its award-winning wines, having garnered more than 450 awards, including 13 best in show.

Shelton Vineyards’ belief is that fine wine begins in the vineyard. The location, in the heart of North Carolina’s Yadkin Valley, provides the ideal climate and soil conditions – very similar to that of the best wine growing regions in Europe. Shelton Vineyards’ commitment to sustainable farming practices and hands-on attention enables the vineyard to produce the highest possible quality of grapes. Learn more about their wines and life around the vineyards at sheltonvineyards.com.

Shelton Vineyards also offers lots of fun events and things to do in addition to tasting and dining. Be sure to check their calendar for lots of reasons to visit including:
