Pumpkin patches and Haunted Trails Around Charlotte (2022 Edition)

There’s something special about this time of year. As the temps begin to dip, we can’t help but get excited for all the fall festivities — pumpkin picking, corn mazes, hayrides, bonfires, and of course, the occasional haunted trail.

We have your Fall 2022 list of pumpkin farms to visit, many of them including several fall activities and all are within driving distance from Charlotte. Those looking for a good scare on or before Halloween, we included a list of haunted trails to visit within the area… if you dare!

Pumpkin Patches

Hodges Farm

The scoop: The closest farm to Uptown Charlotte, Hodges Farm offers plenty of fall fun without having to travel far. Find pumpkins of all shapes and sizes at their pumpkin patch, a hay mountain to climb and jump on, barnyard animals, and more. On the weekends, you can expect $5 parking, the Farm Shop to be open, and treats for purchase.

Mountain Man Farm

The scoop: Just a short drive to Concord lies Mountain Man Farm where you can find pumpkins, mums and gourds of all colors, shapes and sizes. Visit their Facebook page for more details and updates.

Historic Rural Hill

The scoop: In the Lake Norman area, Rural Hill is the perfect spot to head for a family day of fall festivities. Pick a pumpkin at their pumpkin patch, get lost in the Amazing Maize Maze (seven acres of corn), take an Insta worthy photo at their photo op, and much more. For those feeling adventurous, visit the Amazing Maize Maze at night beginning in October.

Daytime adult ticket is $13; daytime child ticket (age 5-12) is $9; night maze ticket for adult is $17; night maze ticket for child (age 5-12) is $13. Prices higher at the gate.

Hunter Farm

The scoop: If you’re wanting a large variety of pumpkins to choose from, look no further than Hunter Farms. The selection includes heirlooms, carving pumpkins, and gourds of all sizes. While you’re there, take a trip to the small market store where you’ll find locally crafted jellies, jams, honey, and more. No reservation is needed to visit the pumpkin patch, but if you want to take a wagon ride to the petting barn while you’re there, visit here to save your seat.

$10 per person for wagon ride to petting barn (small pumpkin included with ticket).

Children under 2 years of age ride for free; tickets required starting age 2.

Almond Farm

The scoop: There is so much to do this fall at Almond Farm! Start your visit by choosing the perfect pumpkin from their pumpkin patch, then head to the fall farm playground where you’ll find a variety of activities. Take a spin on the hayride (only on weekends), feed animals (only on weekends), get lost in the corn maze, zip on their express slide, and so much more.

Fall season is September 24 through October 30.

Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. 

Hayrides by appointment only on Monday – Friday.

Riverbend Farm

The scoop: Pumpkins and gourds of all shapes and sizes can be found at this pumpkin patch. This year, celebrate Riverbend Farm’s 30th year as a pumpkin patch. During your visit, be sure to take a trip down their big slides located on their playground.

Admission for anyone 2 years and older is $6.00. Pumpkins are 50 cents/pound.

Food trucks on the weekends.

Hours:

Pumpkin patch open only in October.

Monday through Friday: 3:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Saturday: 10-6 p.m.

Sunday: 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.

They have four large wagons that go to and from the fields on the weekends so you can stay in the field as long as you want. On the weekday afternoons, two wagons run continuously.

Carrigan Farms

The scoop: Pick your own pumpkin right off the vine at Carrigan Farms. Each trip to the pumpkin patch includes a hayride to the petting zoo and pumpkin field. Cost is $14 ( $2 online deposit plus $12 at door, cash or check only) and includes a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.

Cherry Place Farm

The scoop: Open Saturdays and Sundays in October, Cherry Place Farms is a great spot to pick your pumpkins while taking part of all the October festivities. Admission is $10 (ages 2+) and includes a self-guided tour of the farm featuring the pumpkin patch, cornmaze, hayrides, petting and feeding the animals, and barnyard games for children.

Hall Family Farm

The scoop: Pick the perfect pumpkin at Hall Family Farm’s pumpkin patch along with hayrides and other fall activities. End the day by getting lost in the 7-acre corn maze and stopping for a sweet treat at the sales tent.

There is no admission charge to visit the farm.

The scoop: Get the perfect pumpkin at Patterson Farm. While you’re there, get lost in the corn maze, visit the barnyard, go on the cow barrel train ride, hayrides, and more.

The scoop: Enjoy the cooler temps by heading to Bush-N-Vine farm for u-pick pumpkins. Pumpkin season begins September 24 through Halloween. Be sure to pack a pair of tennis shoes as the patch can be muddy after it rains.

The scoop: One of our favorite places to celebrate fall is at Shelby Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch. Take the whole family for a day of fun that includes an 8-acre corn maze, pumpkin patch, hayrides, and 18+ courtyard activities.

The scoop: On select nights in October, the 275-acre farm at Carrigan’s is transformed into the spookiest haunted trail around. This is NOT a trail for kids, children under 12 will not be allowed to enter.

The 13th Acre

The scoop: This haunted trail in Monroe will make you feel like you’re walking into your worst nightmare. Expect unknown creatures creating mayhem as you and your friends see how far you can go.

This walking event is NOT for the faint of heart. Once you enter, you’ll only have one chance get out, and if you miss it, you’ll have to finish the trail.

Regular ticket is $20 per person, combo ticket with Aw Shucks Farms is $28 (no combo on Sundays or Halloween). Cash only at the Haunt Ticket Booth (cards accepted at the main ticket booth at Aw Shucks).

The scoop: Eerie things start to happen after dark at Shelby Corn Maze. Some say it’s haunted, some say it’s only wind. Are you brave enough to explore the trails and see for yourself? This year, there will be no guides to protect you from what may be waiting in the shadows… We wish you the best!

The scoop: For 26 years, Midway Wicked Woods has been a go-to haunted trail for anyone who wants to get their heart racing. You’ll be transported on a wagon to the entrance where you’ll enter (if you dare) the trail of haunted buildings, a ‘tunnel of terror’, and haunted graveyard.
