Rescue Ranch to host Outdoor Explorers Day on Veterans Day from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The 18th Annual Novant Health Charlotte Marathon returns on Saturday, November 12.

The Marathon and Half Marathon start at 7:20 a.m. and the 5K starts at 7:35 a.m. All runners will be off the streets by 1:20 p.m. Typically the event draws runners from most all 50 states as well as Canada, Mexico and a few European Countries. If you can, pull out a lawn chair and head out a spot along the course and cheer on the runners and show them the spirit we have in the Queen City. This year’s event is a fund raiser for the Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital ~ over the last several years the race has raised over $250,000 for Hemby.

On Nov 12, come out to Charlotte Art League ‘s beautiful new space, have a drink, grab a snack and form a band! We’ll walk you through a quick activity to find out who you have common musical interest. You can work with someone you already know! Jambox will be there to help out with scheduling band practice space if you need it!

From November 12 – December 10, you and your band will practice (~4 times), come up with a 10 minute set of originals or covers, and use our peer-to-peer fundraising platform to raise money for music lesson scholarships for underserved youth.

On December 10, we’ll all come together at Free Range Brewing for a battle of the bands style final concert. We’ve got prizes for the band who raises the most money and gets the most applause!

Rural Hill Sheepdog Trials and Dog Festival (runs both Sat & Sun)

Bring your family, friends, and dog (or dogs) to the Rural Hill Sheepdog Trials and Dog Festival November 12th and 13th for one of the area’s best known dog events, now in its twenty-fourth year. National Border Collie Shepherding Championships, Carolina Dock Dogs, Canine Agility Club Competitions and more will be held over the two day event. Also on hand: NC Beer and Wine, Heritage Breed Livestock, Hay Rides, Historic Craft and Cooking Demonstrations, Food Vendors, Shopping, Nature Trails, Living History, Pumpkin Chunkin’, and much much more!
