Wednesday 2/22 is National Margarita Day. Here’s Our Charlotte Margaritas Guide

It’s almost that time of year when we celebrate our favorite unofficial holiday — National Margarita Day. This year, it falls on a Wednesday, which makes for the perfect mid-week, hump-day treat. We searched the Charlotte area and beyond for the best margaritas and tequila-based cocktails to help you decide where to go. Here’s what we found:

Featured Favorite Charlotte Margaritas

Mariposa
500 S Tryon St.

A great choice for a pick-me-up with dinner is the Fuego Roca Tierra for a little sweet and spicy. Made with, watermelon shrub, house-made mango habanero syrup, and fresh watermelon. Colorful, IG worthy, and sure to have your taste buds dancing.

The Waterman Fish Bar

The Waterman Fish Bar is a great spot for delicious tequila based cocktails, year round. Our favorites are The Deckhand – a spicy spin on a classic marg, made with Lunazul Tequila, Licor 43, grapefruit, agave, jalapeño, and the Topside Treasure – a sweet & salty rendition with a beautiful blue hue; made with Teremana Blanco Tequila, Cointreau, lime, agave, sea sugar rim, and a blue iceberg.

Sea Level

The pair we never knew we needed, oysters and spicy margs. At Sea Level, order The Ghost Pepper Pommarita for a little spice and a whole lotta nice; made with Lunazul Blanco Tequila, Pama, triple sec, ghost pepper syrup, pomegranate juice, and lime.

Church & Union
127 N Tryon St. #8

In honor of National Margarita Day, Church and Union will be serving up their version of a margarita: the Ghost; with tequila, orange liqueur, lime, cucumber, and cayenne pepper.

Village Tavern
4201 Congress St.

This SouthPark favorite is a great spot to celebrate the holiday. Order the Top Shelf Margarita with Patrón® Reposado Tequila, Grand Marnier®, fresh lime juice, orange juice, citrus agave nectar, and orange salt. P.S. Margaritas are $2 off every Friday.

401 Social
401 E M.L.K. Jr Blvd

Gather at 401 Social, a perfect social spot in Uptown across the street from the NASCAR Hall of Fame. While you’re there, try their Charred Jalapeño Margarita with Tequila Blanco, chipotle, cilantro, and citrus.

Drift on Lake Wylie
315-M Lanyard Ln, Belmont

Sit lakeside with a margarita in hand to celebrate the holiday. At Drift on Lake Wylie, order the Dockside Margarita made with Blanco tequila, grapefruit juice, fresh lime juice, roasted jalapeno syrup, and pomegranate juice.

The Pump House
575 Herrons Ferry Road, Rock Hill, SC

For a seasonal option, try the Spiced Peach Margarita at The Pump House in Rock Hill. Lunazul Reposado, Harlequin Orange Liqueur, spiced peach syrup, lemon sour, lime juice,
and peach bitters. Delicious.

Celebrate National Margarita Day at Spindle Bar located inside Optimist Hall. Opt in for a traditional marg with Blanco Tequila, lime, agave, and sea salt.

New to town, Que Fresca offers a variety of margaritas that are perfect to celebrate the holiday. Order a House Margarita by the glass or a pitcher, with the option to add a flavor for extra. Choose from strawberry, mango, pineapple, watermelon or blackberry. They also offer daily specials such as half off any tequila shot on Wednesdays and $6 large House Margaritas every Friday.

At Hot Taco, every Wednesday is a celebration. Enjoy half-priced premium margaritas every Wednesday, including National Margarita Day. Another popular option for margarita lovers is is the build-your-own margarita. Start off with a regular margarita and add your own flavor (passion fruit, mango, blood orange, huckleberry, raspberry, peach or strawberry), add a float (grand marnier, pama pomegranate, Licor 43, St. Elderflower, Midori or Chambord) and add a flip (coronita or Sparkling Brut). Yum.

El Toro

Celebrate the holiday in many ways at El Toro in Cornelius. Order a classic margarita on the rocks or frozen, both available by the pitcher, or a specialty margarita for only $12.99.

While you can certainly order a marg here, you can also enjoy this speakeasy’s take on a tequila cocktail Thai Pepper Paloma, made with reposado tequila, spicy ruby red syrup, lime, jarritos grapefruit soda and served over ice.

Fine & Fettle offers tequila-based cocktails created by David Schmidty that will certainly help you celebrate the holiday. Try the Rhurbarbo made with tequila, rhubarb, lime, tamarind, and Cointreau. Another favorite is the You’re my boy, Blue made with tequila, blueberries, basil, and lime.
