Wednesday Night Live: Queen City New Play Initiative Bake Off

Head to the Mint Museum Uptown this Wednesday to see three playwrights and four actors create impromptu skits in response to works in Picasso Landscapes and our permanent collection galleries with projections of works in Mint Uptown Atrium. Wednesday Night Live includes free admission to the museums (Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture, and the Mint Museum) from 5 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday, as well as live entertainment or programming at one of the five participating institutions each week.

SkillPop: Floral Watercolors at Camp North End

Let your inner artist flourish and bloom as local watercolor artist Allie Kohlbusch teaches you how to paint a variety of leaves and flowers in a whimsical loose bouquet style. She’ll provide demonstrations paired with guided instruction, and you’ll practice each new technique with Allie helping every step of the way. COME FROM AWAY is an uplifting musical based on real events on 9/11, when 38 planes carrying 7,000 passengers (and 19 animals in cargo) were diverted and ordered to emergency land at the Gander International Airport after the attacks. Grounded for days, the “plane people” ~ the passengers and crew ~ were warmly welcomed by the small town and treated with immense hospitality.
