Watch Broadway’s Come From Away at the Belk Theater

COME FROM AWAY is an uplifting musical based on real events on 9/11, when 38 planes carrying 7,000 passengers (and 19 animals in cargo) were diverted and ordered to emergency land at the Gander International Airport after the attacks. Grounded for days, the “plane people” ~ the passengers and crew ~ were warmly welcomed by the small town and treated with immense hospitality. The Newfoundlanders opened up their homes, hotels, restaurants, school gyms and community centers to house and care for the stranded. After two long years of cancellations, the Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade is back and will return to Uptown this Saturday. The parade will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting on Tryon Street and 9th Street and then marching down. Expect marching bands, floats, and civic organizations celebrating the city and St. Patrick’s Day. The festival, which takes place all day long, will have food, vendors, and attractions.
