From flight attendant to ER nurse, to NYC aesthetics ‘royalty’, Heather Rypien has worked very hard to get where she is. As an RN, BSN, and CANS (Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist), she’s one of the most in-demand trainers for Galderma and Allergan in the US, leading more than 65 injector trainings across the country. She’s a well-known Upper East side Injector who is now practicing here in Charlotte with Dr. Joel Beck at Beck Aesthetic Surgery.
With extensive training from some of the world’s top injectors including Julie Horne, Arthur Swift MD, and Mauricio DeMaio, Heather will see roughly 300 practitioners, who will leave her training fully equipped to use her techniques & perspectives to deliver amazing client results. Dubbed as “the busiest girl in Aesthetics,” when she’s not creating exceptional results for her patients here in the QC, she’s traveling the country as a Galderma Trainer. (Galderma is the parent company of Restylane, Sculptra and Dysport among other popular beauty and wellness brands). Over the last several years, she’s made such an impact for countless practices across the US with her in-demand hands-on trainings.
How did you get into Aesthetics?
“It all started from my personal experience of receiving injectables 20 years ago back when Botox first came out. I FELL IN LOVE with injecting. I then became obsessed with the perfection of delivering the most natural beautiful results with the safest techniques. I would spend hours googling for the best injector trainings and there wasn’t a ¼ of the courses we have today. So, my husband supported me and flew me out to California and the rest is history!“
Honesty Really is the Best Policy
Aesthetics is truly an art and Heather takes her passion to another level. She spends a generous amount of time in her consults getting to the root of the patient’s concerns with emphasis on their health history & skin care. Heather is known for being an honest Injector ~ she won’t promise anything over her scope of skillset or above her human capabilities. Heather explains that she also won’t camouflage a problem area for a patient. She will try to explore and educate first on why the patient is hyper focusing on it, and will discuss with the patient how to achieve symmetry or achievable results.
“Getting on a personal level discussing the aging process and facial balancing is something I take very seriously,” Heather explains. Ensuring the patient receives pleasing results enhancing their natural beauty is always her goal.
It’s All About the Client
Customer service experience is a top priority. “Having been a flight attendant for 14 years and then a nurse, I love people, caring for people, and I’m passionate about patient relationships” she explains. Her co-workers know that one of Heather’s top qualities is the ability to retain patients’ preferences and what they talked about on their last visit, to find common ground with that patient, bonding with them gaining their trust as their provider.
Building the relationship and trust with her patients is something Heather takes great pride in. She respects your investment and will encourage you to seek other consultations if you wish. “I like to give the patient control in the consultation, to remind them that they have choices, and if they are not ready or need to think about this decision it’s OK. I want them thoroughly excited about it, and to understand any and all risks associated so they are properly educated and make an informed decision” says Heather.
Why Did You Join Beck Aesthetic Surgery?
While Heather is still training around the country, she wanted to have a “home base” here in her hometown of Charlotte, and slow down the traveling, and spend more time with her family. “Another big reason is I finally found a Doctor who believes in me and has trust in my skill. Dr. Beck and his team just felt like home.”
Why Not Own Your Own Practice?
“When it comes down to it, it’s not everyone’s dream. Owning a business is a lot, the stress of building, juggling the responsibilities is just not something I want to take on. Being strong admits where you’re weak, and with this stage in my life, my career, I am happy where I am. Also, to have found an office where I can entrust in professionalism of my team.
