With the end of summer comes familiar routines. Keep your back-to-school and work routines fresh by mixing in visits to these just opened and opening soon restaurants, plus a dash of the latest news and events.

Coquette – Open now in Uptown

The Plaid Penguin

Mother Earth Group’s new French pâtisserie and restaurant, Coquette, is officially open for dinner in Uptown with limited reservations and walk-ins available for their chef’s signature take on traditional French dishes such as Duck Fat Fried Chicken and Coq au Vin Blanc, as well as unique and creative dishes like Foie Gras French Toast. The menu features an assortment of charcuterie and fromage as well as a selection of fresh seafood from their raw bar as well.

Pizza Baby – Open now in Wesley Heights

Feed your pizza craving with a stop to Pizza Baby, from the team behind Flour Shop. Guests can expect New York-style specialty and classic pizzas, sharable starters, sandwiches and signature cocktails.

Lebowski’s Neighborhood Grill – Re-opened in Dilworth

This neighborhood favorite is back with brand new menus and aesthetic updates throughout the refreshed space. But some things always stay the same – you can still expect to find each Buffalo Bills game on the screens!

Frothy Beard Brewing Company – Open now in South End

This South Carolina brewery opened the doors of its first North Carolina location in South End. Guests can help celebrate with full-flavored beers and a kitchen that’s expected to open soon.

The Punch Room – Open now in Uptown

Raise a glass. The Punch Room is back serving elevated drinks on the fifteenth floor of the Ritz-Carlton.

Muraya – Coming soon to South End

Coming soon to the former Hot Taco spot, Muraya will lean on Colombian flavors but guests will find dishes a bit more elevated than other traditional fare. Expect twists on classic Colombian dishes, a cocktail lounge and outdoor seating.

Babe & Butcher – Opening soon in Montford

Just in time for fall soirées and holiday gatherings, Babe and Butcher will open soon in Park Road Shopping Center. Stop in for a variety of charcuterie products, freshly pressed panini sandwiches and a retail section perfect for that last minute hostess gift.

Que Fresa – Coming soon to Uptown

Que Fresa, a trendy taqueria that opened in Summer of 2022 in Wesley Heights, is expanding. Que Fresa’s second location will be opening in Fall 2023 in Uptown. The menu will mirror the Wesley Heights location, where guests can expect a unique but approachable menu, a $9.95 lunch menu and all-day weekend brunch.

Cuzzo’s Cuisine – Coming soon to Charlotte Premium Outlets

Soon, you’ll be able to take a well-deserved break from shopping at the outlets with Southern-style food from Cuzzo’s Cuisine. The popular food truck turned brick-and-mortar will open a location inside the food court at the Charlotte Premium Outlets this month.

Joan’s Bakery and Deli – Opening soon in Metropolitan

A new concept from Rare Roots Hospitality, Joan’s Bakery and Deli, is coming this fall to Metropolitan. The bakery and deli will combine the restaurant group’s best-known desserts with the food from a familiar Jewish deli pop-up, Meshugganah. Chef Rob Clement, the former executive chef of The Porter’s House who created Meshugganah, will lead the bakery and bring along his popular staples, including pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, to the Joan’s menu.

Taco Boy – Opening soon in LoSo

Well-known (and loved) around the Charleston area, Taco Boy will soon have a home here in the Queen City. The newest opening joins locations in Folly Beach, downtown Charleston, Summervile, SC and West Asheville.

Just Announced: 3rd and Fernwood, a new Bayhaven Restaurant, coming to Metropolitan this fall

Coming soon from Bayhaven Restaurant Group, 3rd & Fernwood will draw from African and Southern American influences to provide new takes on Southern-style meals and dishes. Plus, there will be a speakeasy with a separate entrance.

Closings:

  • Dogwood: will be replaced by The Fox and Falcon by David Burke
  • Heirloom: Closing to public dining to focus on catering and private events
  • Cantina 1511: Closed both Park Road and Mooresville locations

Sea Level‘s Rising Tide Cocktail

Raise your glass and do good with this month’s Rising Tide Cocktail at Sea Level. The Barrel Aged Boulevardier, available from 9/4 to 10/1, is made with Old Forester Bourbon, Cappalleti, and Cocchi Torino. 20% of proceeds will benefit nonprofit, Joy International, an organization dedicated to the prevention of child trafficking and to the freedom, healing, and empowerment of trafficked children, teens, and young adults worldwide.

Duckworth’s: your Fantasy Football destination

Gear up for Fantasy Football season, because Duckworth’s offers reservations through Sept. 8. Details:

The Cowfish and eeZ have partnered with local nonprofit Dream On 3 to help Dream Recipients, ages 5-21 years old who are living with a life altering condition, have their sports dreams become a reality. Tthe Huddle Roll features tuna, kani salad, English cucumber and tempura flakes inside. Tuna, avocado and ebi shrimp are on the outside, topped with wasabi mayo and multicolored tobiko. During September and October, $5 from each $23 Huddle Roll sold will go directly to Dream On 3 to help bring customized experiences to those in need.

Negronis for a cause at Bulla Gastrobar

National Negroni Week is coming up, and Bulla Gastrobar is celebrating in a big way. From Friday, September 18 through Saturday, September 30, Bulla Gastrobar is serving Negronis for a Cause. Guests can order their choice of a Spanish or Bianco Negroni, and for every one ordered, Bulla Gastrobar is donating $1 to Slow Food.

Sail over to Twenty-Six Acres Brewing Co. for their inaugural Fall Oyster Roast & Fundraiser featuring tide-to-table, wild oysters from The Waterman Fish Bar.
