Over the NY Resolution Thing? Try a Nudge Word Instead

Are you anti-resolution? Or just kind of bored with the concept? The Washington Post suggests you consider the NUDGE WORD instead.

What is a nudge word?:

“a word that reflects your values, intentions and vision for the coming year. Unlike a traditional New Year’s resolution to lose weight or exercise more, a nudge word isn’t focused on a single goal. It captures the mind-set you want to adopt “

Instead of picking a specific goal or finite activity ~ lose weight, exercise 4 days a week, you might pick the word MOVE or STRETCH or FITNESS to nudge you into thinking about and doing something to improve your health throughout the year. Instead of ‘give up sweets or chocolate or wine’ you might pick MINDFUL to nudge you toward the positive behaviors and changes that you’d like to make, not just in your diet and eating habits but in your lifestyle overall. It’s more of a holistic approach to your being than a one-and-done resolution.

The Post even has a (somewhat) helpful quiz you can take to help you pick your nudge words ~ you’ll find that here.

What’s your Nudge Word gonna be this year?
