The Gluten Intolerance Group has picked Charlotte to host its 50th Anniversary Celebration the weekend of September 7-8, 2024.
Big news for the Gluten-Free, Gluten Intolerant, and GF Curious among us ~ The national Gluten Intolerance Group is coming to the QC the 1st weekend in September with a two-day event to celebrate their five decades of making life easier for the gluten-free community.
The event will bring together individuals, experts, and advocates to commemorate the progress the Gluten Intolerance community has made, and to envision a future of continued support and education. It kicks off with a welcome reception on Friday, September 6th from 6 – 9 pm, followed by two full days of engaging activities on Saturday, September 7th, and Sunday, September 8th.
Gluten-Free Event Schedule and Activities
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from a lineup of renowned experts such as: Shelley Case, RD; Natalie Castro, RD; Dr. Alysa Bedell; Steve Plogsted, BS, PharmD, FASPEN; Dr. Jonathan Carp, MD; Parul Kharod, MS, RDN, LDN; and Coral Barajas.
These speakers will delve into hot topics within the gluten-free community, covering subjects such as the ongoing oat controversy, GF and FODMAPS in Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity, the relationship between the brain and gut, and the psychological impact of gluten-related disorders. Additional discussions will explore the effects of gluten-free diets on the gut microbiome, skin manifestations of gluten intolerance, and a glimpse into the future of gluten-free advancements.
In addition to these informational sessions, the event will feature interactive activities and networking as well as a special Recognition Dinner dedicated to honoring individuals who have made a significant difference in the gluten-free community over the past 50 years.
This summit promises a weekend filled with fun, games, enlightenment, and delicious gluten-free food, all in a safe and inclusive environment.
The Gluten-Free celebration will be held at the Hilton University Place, near the Shoppes at University Place in the University area off of I-85.
A Teen GF Summit Too
Concurrently, there will be a Gluten-Free Teen Summit aimed at fostering the next generation of gluten-free advocates. Open to teens aged 13-19, this summit will feature team-building activities, inspiring speakers, dietary education, and more. Topics include Restaurants, College, & Trips without parents or comfort zones, and How to advocate for yourself when visiting the doctor.
