It feels like this summer is setting records, both for reaching the top of the temperature charts and the excitement surrounding new foodie hotspots around the Queen City. Closings
While this list is extra long as we didn’t cover late June and July closings, there are also some significant good-byes here. We wish the best to come in the future endeavors of all the owners, staff and families of local businesses that have to make the very tough decision to close.

Postino WineCafé – Open now in Ballantyne
Open now at The Bowl, Postino offers a variety of specialty plates and wines in an art-centric space. The menu changes seasonally but always features bruschetta, charcuterie boards, from-scratch soups, fresh salads, and panini sandwiches, with over 30 wines by the glass.
Seaboard Brewing LoSo – Open now in South End
Downtown Matthews’ first brewery has opened its second location in LoSo, featuring pizza (expect the same menu from The Exchange Pizza Depot in Matthews) and build-your-own charcuterie.
Foxcroft Wine Co. Birkdale – Open now in Lake Norman
Foxcroft Wine Co. has opened its fifth location at Birkdale Village in the Lake Norman area with 40 wines by the glass and over 400 grape varieties by the bottle.
The Matador – Open now in South End
The Matador has opened on South Boulevard in South End. Known for its extensive collection of agave spirits and Mexican cuisine, The Matador offers a twice-daily happy hour from 4–6pm and 10pm to last call, featuring dishes like grande nachos, haba prawns, grilled stuffed jalapeños, and street tacos.
Lottie’s Cafe – Open Now in Uptown
Lottie’s has just debuted as the newest addition to Queen City Quarter in Uptown. Their menu features a variety of coffees, pastries from Beyond Amazing Donuts, breakfast bowls, sandwiches, and flatbreads. In addition to a diverse drink selection that includes cocktails, beer, and wine, Lottie’s will also house a small retail section offering apparel and home decor.
Flight – Now Open in Elizabeth
Flight, a new restaurant and bar, is now open in Elizabeth. The menu offers European-inspired shareable plates, salads, and six types of artisanal pizza baked in a custom Italian oven. The wine list includes 150 international and domestic wines, with 30 available by the glass.
Yakitori Omakase by Prime Fish – Now Open in South Charlotte
The Prime Fish Team recently opened its newest concept, a speakeasy called Yakitori Omakase. It will feature two seatings Wednesday – Saturday at 5:30 and 8 pm, and two seatings on Sunday at 1 and 5 pm.
Brooklyn Pickle – Now Open in Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute
Hailing from Syracuse, NY, where Brooklyn Pickle has been a beloved spot for family-friendly dining for years. Now they’re serving in the heart of Dilworth. Menu options include corned beef, roast beef, Cajun turkey, and capocollo, complemented by house-made sides such as baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and macaroni salad.
Hawthorne’s New York Pizza and Bar – Open Now in South End
This Charlotte favorite for pizza and more has opened its newest location in South End.
Topsail Steamer – Open now in Madison Park
You don’t have to travel to the coast for a fresh steam pot, just to Park Road Shopping Center. Sara and Greg Zanitsch, owners of The Fig Tree Restaurant, opened the latest location of Topsail Steamer in July.
Frenchy’s Sip and Shop – Open now in South End
Make Frenchy’s your next girls’ night or date night destination. Expect a natural wine and craft beer bottle shop serving beers, wines, ciders, sakes and more with small snacks to pair.

RiCkO’s Churro Bar – Opening August 11 in NoDa
Charlotte’s First Churreria brought to us by popular Mexican food truck Tacos Rick-O owner Ricky Ortiz. At 3100 North Davidson Suite 104, you’ll find Build Your Own churros, coffee, traditional Mexican breads, many versions of tres leches, sandwiches, ice cream & more.
MaBÃ – Opening August 13 in NoDa
Opening in the former Figo36 space, MaBÃ will open this month with a family-friendly atmosphere, approachable food, and a cocktail program. The menu features Caribbean dishes such as pastelitos, empanadas, chicharrones, Dominican spiced chicken, and coconut rice and beans.
Salted Melon – Opening August 14 in Myers Park on Prov Rd
