It is the firm philosophy of all scoopcharlotte staff that any excuse to party is a good thing.
With that in mind, even though I have seen a grand total of 2 of the Oscar-Nominated films this year, I am still absolutely throwing a party with the girlfriends to drink champagne, criticize the ball gowns and eye-roll at the acceptance speeches.
There is a lot of Oscar Party inspo out there on the internet… and a lot of cheese. We sifted through to find these picks for your Oscars Party this Sunday. All of the tinseltown, none of the tacky.
BEST SET. You can’t throw an Oscars party and not indulge the glittery.
With the right balance (and the right room) this could be cool…
While we incline toward casting our ballots against the balloons, the Starry Night Background ($19.99) and the Movie Film party tape ($4.99) are very fun to put up behind a TV. It would be a great way to keep your guests from feeling like they’re just in your house lounging in front of the television. You want them to feel like it’s an Event. Capitalized.
[ps: We recommend if you go this route, go all the way and cover every inch of the wall – top to bottom and side to side. Soul patches, even in decor, are never chic.]
BEST SUPPORTING ROLES.
Be sure to eliminate dish washing afterward by including some thematic cuteness.
We suggest staying mainly in the color scheme of black and white and gold.
BEST DIRECTOR. Manage the energy of your guests with the zest of David Fincher. AKA, concoct a solid drink menu that doesn’t run dry. 😉
If you can, slip out to Del Frisco’s to try their special Oscar-Inspired Cocktails. The Broadway Bramble (tribute to Birdman, somehow) sounds esp amazing…Â Wild Turkey 80, blackberries, lime sour and soda water.
If you can’t, definitely go with champagne and raspberries, adding a splash each of Orange and Raspberry liqueur.
And obviously, as Party Director, get yourself one of these for the evening…
BEST CULINARY PRODUCTION. or something.
Even the healthiest of appetites are affected looking at gorgeous waifs floating over the Red Carpet. Hollywood leading ladies don’t get older, they just get smaller. Knock yourself out if you and your besties are ready to blissfully feast on pizza, but if you possess a more human level of self-esteem, you might opt for a spread of light and low-carb appetizers alongside your drinks.
Or something no dieter ever turned down…
Pick up a platter to serve 4-6 at Whole Foods.
For dessert, take your pick but definitely go Black Tie. 😉
BEST DRESSED.
It’s no secret that to get everyone in the spirit of things, you have to get them to dress the part first. We suggest inviting your guests to base their outfit on one key theme… some ideas:
1) sequins
2) lace
3) tuxedo
4) gold
5) fur
… and you can never go wrong with the theme: Old Hollywood Glamour.
Up the ante by collecting a small entrance fee from each of your guests, and give the pool of $ to the girl (or guy) who went all out with their attire.
