The Peninsula Yacht Club opens its Farmer’s Market this Thursday, July 30 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. You can expect to find seasonal fruits and vegetables, grass fed beef and pork, fresh seafood, eggs, local honey, homemade peanut butter sweetened with honey, artisan breads and baked goods, healthy granola, cold pressed fresh juices, hand-crafted marinara sauces, empanadas, freshly roasted nuts with no added oils, fresh flavored kettle corns, coffee beans, ice coffee, ice cream and other sweet treats! The Peninsula Yacht club is grilling up burgers and hotdogs, selling Cornelius IPA beer and wine, if you’re looking for a casual night out. Admission is free and open to the public. Family Feud Style Trivia will have all the kids out at Lake Town Tavern Thursday, July 30. The Warehouse Performing Arts Center will show Mr. Turner Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 2 at 3 p.m. Mr. Turner was nominated for numerous awards in 2015 and the Boston Globe called it “One of the most rhapsodic films you may ever see.” The film explores the last quarter century of the great British painter J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851). Turner was an innovative and controversial Romanticist landscape painter whose work is regarded as an important preface to the French impressionists like Monet, Manet, and Renoir. Profoundly affected by the death of his father, loved by a housekeeper he takes for granted and occasionally exploits sexually, he forms a close relationship with a seaside landlady with whom he eventually lives incognito in Chelsea. Throughout this, he travels, paints, stays with the country aristocracy, visits brothels, is a popular if anarchic member of the Royal Academy of Arts, has himself strapped to the mast of a ship so that he can paint a snowstorm, and is both celebrated and reviled by the public and by royalty.
