Before you go running for the “psl”, let us tell you about some places nearby where you can pick a great big pumpkin of your own right from the source. And here are some recipes you’ll need to whip up a little pumpkin spice somethin’ of your own.

You don’t have to go far for the full farm experience. Hunter Farm in Weddington is perfect for those excited first time pumpkin pickers. Built in 1868 and run by the Hunter family for 5 generations, the farm is open to the public for you-pick pumpkins from September 27th to November 16th. A small admission fee includes a hayride, visit to the petting barn ​and ​a small pumpkin from the patch.​

Pick your own pumpkins are just the beginning at Patterson Farm. Hop aboard a pumpkin patch tour or a hayride for plenty of fun and a good photo op. Carrigan Farms

Carrigan Farms is the perfect place to bring the crew for an authentic pumpkin patch experience. They grow tens of thousands of pumpkins each year! On Saturdays and Sundays in October, take a hayride to the pumpkin patch, where a $10 ticket includes the ride and your very own pumpkin you pick straight from the patch. Be sure to stop in their farm market for other fresh produce before you head out.

 

 

 

Hodges Farm
