Maybe you’ve driven by this family owned and operated gift & bridal registry store on Providence Road and wondered – what is that place?
Not if you’re “old Charlotte” of course, as Charlotteans have been registering for and buying fine china and crystal at JOHN DABBS, LTD since 1972. John Dabbs carries some of the best brands available ~ Anna Weatherly, Herend, Bernardaud, Orrefors, Waterford, William Yeoward, Nambe, and more. But their hallmark is top-notch, personal, traditional service (things like complimentary gift wrap and in town wedding delivery) along with gift recommendations, expert advice, etiquette counsel etc., and a very convenient Myers Park location.
Now is the perfect time for you to get to know John Dabbs.
The shop is totally set up for the holidays with special items for decorating, personal gift-giving, corporate gift-giving, holiday table top and much more. We thought we’d give you a peek inside John Dabbs with pics from the unique and lovely selection I photographed at their Holiday Open House last Thursday evening. I discovered some new artists and artisans, shopped some of my favorite fine brands, and enjoyed plenty of holiday cheer.

I loved the trunk shows from four hand-selected artisans at the John Dabbs Holiday Open House. Items from these designers are carried at the store year round, and make treasured, unique gifts, just in case you missed the Holiday party. The Dogwood pottery from Terry Lewis is a personal favorite of the scoop girls.
Haand Made pottery
Coeur de Lion Jewelry – handmade in Germany.
The artist, Xima Hulings of Walking Paper Studios, with her artwork of Farm animals with gold painted on canvas and glass trays.
And Terry Lewis, an artist and N.C. native, born in Charlotte and part of the Dan Finch Potters in Bailey, N.C. with her signature Dogwood bowls and vases that represent the state flower of North Carolina.
If you are looking for elegant, traditional Holiday gifts for friends, family and business colleagues with old-school service ~ or a classic bridal registry and wedding gifts ~ you’ll want to stop by John Dabbs this season.
