First, The Gowns.
Wedding season is entirely upon us, and we can’t help but swoon for the styles that are rocking the aisle. Gone are the days of the plain, strapless, A-line, and here to stay are lush fabrics, interesting necklines, and delicate details.
Straps Are Back
We went directly from strapless to long-sleeved (thanks, Kate!), with little transition between. But 2016 runways brought back straps of varying thickness, from the reinvented, dainty spaghetti strap to thicker, sleeveless styles, like “Libby” by Amsale. This stunner features a silk crepe top and a tulle skirt, and is set apart by its impeccable, timeless tailoring.
Elegance from All Angles
Intricate backs are a major focus right now, and every last detail keeps all eyes on the bride, all the way down the aisle. Notice the sexy-but-covered lace placements with plunging backs, and the incredible texture being added with 3D floral details. It’s all about rich, luxurious fabrics.
Extreme Illusions
Illusions on the sleeves and neckline are still going strong, with high-contrast embellishments on barely, barely there fabrics adding an ethereal lightness to even the most traditional gown silhouettes. Lace is a popular feature on illusions, but sparkling crystals also make their appearance and are especially lovely for black-tie and winter weddings.

Bad Girl, Bad Girl, Whatcha Gonna Do? – The Wild West
As an update to the rustic/mason jar-y feel, couples are introducing pieces inspired by the Wild West into their wedding planning inspiration. The best way to implement the Wild West into your 2015 wedding is by thinking Santa Fe instead of Home on the Range. You can update by adding hand-made and rough hewn details and accessories from shops like Anthropologie (#cltshops tip: shop the new Anthro open in Atherton Mill).
Bring On the Color – Marsala
2014 was full of muted tones and very feminine colors. 2015 is all about the color. The color of the year is a beautiful red hue called Marsala. In order to work the hue into your wedding plans, focus on bringing out fabulous and rich colors (and lots of them) throughout the wedding.
These stemless Champagne Flutes from Swoozies make great gifts for your guest!

Don’t Bring Me Gifts
2015 wedding guest might even coming empty handed to a fall wedding. New sites such as honeyfund.com which is a crowd funding website for the honey moon seem to be taking over. Sites such as The Wine Enthusiast and experience based gifts (such as concert tickets, tennis lessons, cooking classes, etc.) are making the classic blender gift seem passé. Head over to Groupon to check out unique gifts to digitally handover at the wedding. [please note: scoop girls do NOT endorse this trend…but we do pass on all news that’s fit to print!!]
Mixing Metals
Rose Gold is in. Simple as that. We are talking flatware, jewelry, vases, gift, etc. If it can be made in a rose gold your wedding needs it. Mercury votive glasses used to be the rage but the pink hued cousin is now taking the lead. Rose gold helps to accomplish a more feminine and delicate look. You can splurge on these to die for sets of rose gold cutlery at Kate Spade, you can always opt for bringing copper pieces into your table settings for a similar look.
