Spring & Summer always roll in with so many delightful new fragrances, embracing all things flowery, light, citrusy and sunny. Seems like the perfume “noses” who designed this summer’s launches had international travel on their minds. Fine by us, as now we can be transported to the Mediterranean even if we can’t afford the trip!

Jo Malone London NASHI BLOSSOM Limited Edition Release

Every summer Jo Malone London launches a limited edition blossom based fragrance, and 2016 is no exception. NASHI BLOSSOM, due in stores in early May (before Mother’s Day) is a Citrusy Floral and it is divine. I stopped by the Nordstrom Jo counter last week for a sniff. (if you ask at the Nordstrom Jo counter for this new scent, chances are they will have a bottle although it’s not yet officially “released” to the public). The top note is lemon; middle notes are pear blossom and rose; and the base note is white musk. (Nashi Blossom name refers to the Asian or Chinese Pear, whose flowers are a popular symbol of early spring in East Asia). Nashi Blossom will be lovely in combination with Jo Malone’s Nectarine Blossom & Honey for you fruity-floral fans, and with Dark Amber & Ginger Lily for a sensual but still light scent.

Diptyque Eau De Sens

Eau des Sens is a composition that radiates from the skin with its harmony of notes that include orange blossom, bitter orange, juniper berries, angelica and patchouli. Diptyque describes the scent as “the scent of the orange tree in its entirety, from the white petals of the orange blossom to the dark green leaves to the juicy, bitter Seville orange hanging off the branches.” In her full review here, the blogger nowsmellthis says “Verdict: Nice, and very much worth a try for orange blossom fans. It would also make a perfect entry-level orange blossom.”

Aerin Mediterranean Honeysuckle

Sweet honeysuckle and sparkling grapefruit take you to the sun-drenched Mediterranean, with its lush flowers and shimmering beaches. “Italian bergamot, and mandarin oil impart lasting freshness. Lily of the valley and lush gardenia build to the sensuality and richness of jasmine sambac absolute.”

Tom Ford Soleil Blanc 

Remote private islands where summer lasts all year and one day seamlessly blends into the next inspire Soleil Blanc, an addictive solar floral amber alive with seductive refinement and refreshing decadence. TOM FORD’s latest private blend creation unapologetically exudes the endless pursuit of sun and luxury that defines TOM FORD Soleil.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540

An NM Beauty Award winner, was first released exclusively through Baccarat (at a price of 3000 euros in its big, baccarat crystal bottle!!) and this season by Maison Francis Kurkdjian, carried solely in Charlotte at Neiman Marcus SouthPark. Baccarat Rouge 540 is described by the company as “blood orange, ambergris, cedar, oak moss, lavender and sage.”  Read a full review here, on my favorite perfume blog NowSmellThis.com.

Laura Mercier  Tea Menthe Citron

A contemporary, sophisticated fragrance that captures the essence of mint and tea leaves. Inspired by the Moroccan leisure of tea-time, Tea Menthe Citron captures the freshness of hand-picked mint and earthy tea leaves, perfectly balanced with a touch of cardamom and cedarwood. Leaving behind a refreshing sensationfor the body and senses.

Acqua di Parma Cedro di Taormina

Taormina Sicily, one of my favorite places I’ve ever visited, is the inspiration for this new line extension in the popular Blue Mediterraneo family for men and women. Fresh citrus, petit grain and aromatic basil capture the landscape’s vibrant fragrance and sunlit radiance. In the heart of the fragrance, black pepper and lavender create a sparkling, spicy experience and blend perfectly with the elegant, intense base notes of cistus labdanum, vetiver and Virginia Cedarwood.

Boy Chanel – speaking of Unisex scents

Now out in Paris and coming soon to Neiman Marcus SouthPark, Boy from Chanel is the newest in their Les Exclusifs collection. Positioned as unisex but also described by its creator as more a “dive into men’s fragrance…and to show how well it could be worn by a woman.” Chanel perfumer Olivier Polge was inspired by Arthur “Boy” Capel describes the fragrance as having … a fresh, aromatic masculine barbershop aspect and its more enveloping element. Boy Chanel notes include lavender, rose geranium, lemon, grapefruit, rose, orange blossom, sandalwood, heliotropin, vanilla and musk.

Annick Goutal Rose Pompon

Sparkling notes of blackcurrant and raspberry, spicy pepper and velvety peonies merge with the freshness of Rose Pompon, leaving a deliciously addictive trail. Plus the pretty bottle. But you are either a lover of rose perfumes or not. And apparently, again from my guru nowsmellthis, this isn’t even her fave rose from Annick Goutal!
