No time to Spring clean this year and now your closets are overflowing? Maybe you did a spring purge to make room for new stuff, but now have old clothes, shoes, and furniture to get rid of.  Or your kids seem to outgrow everything overnight. Whatever the reason… you can find almost anything that you’re looking to buy/sell or trade in local  groups on Facebook. No need to scroll through Craigslist, host a garage sale, or even leave your house. (Shopping is always better from the couch with a glass of wine anyway).
Here’s our round-up of the best local groups and where you’re most likely to find what you’re looking for – or looking to get rid of. If you want to expand your “trade area”, here’s our list of CLT groups for reference.
Lake Norman Yard Sale and Trade
This group of almost 13,000 members has everything from campers to furniture to clothing and even boats. If you can handle scrolling through all the listings, you can find just about anything you’re looking for. Â We found this nice dining room set for a steal:
Lake Norman Parent Exchange
This is another closed group that focuses on buy/sell/trade for Children’s items. Lots of strollers, car seats, nursery furniture and of course baby clothes and toys. If you know exactly that you’re looking for you’ll probably do better than if you’re shopping for your entire registry. Still, it’s a great group to check out if you’re ISO (lingo for in search of) baby and children’s items.
Lake Norman – NC Furniture Sales
If you’re only looking for furniture and don’t want to sort through all sorts of other items, this closed group has strict rules about posting and immediately deletes non-furniture posts. We found some nice items – including this tufted chair:

Keep in mind that all of these groups have rules – which are fairly similar for the most part. Check with each group’s Admin if you have a specific question. Here are some of the basics:
– No self promotion or business promotion – strictly buy sell trade posts only
– Remove posted items promptly after you’ve sold them
– Post pricing information instead of asking buyers to make an offer
