When I think of July Fourth, it conjures some of my best summer memories. Whether spent with family down on Amelia Island, among friends on Lake Murray or Lake Norman, or grilling out in my backyard at home, it’s one of my favorite holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas get all of the glory, but I’m a sucker for the 4th. Send fireworks soaring over a clear Carolina night sky and you’ll find a goose bump or two. Play the National Anthem and I’ll probably shed a tear. I love America and I love the Fourth of July.
Although the Fourth is awesome in and of itself, an over-the-top awesome Fourth of July requires a little time, planning, and a lot of water. We are here to help. Although pickin’s are admittedly slim this late in the game, there is still hope. Check out some of the best last-minute vacation rentals with availability for Independence Day across the Carolinas’ most beautiful lakeside shorelines. From Norman to Wylie, we have you covered for whatever kind of Fourth you’re aiming for, from a refreshing, relaxing holiday weekend living #LakeLife to a big ol’ ‘Merica-loving extravaganza!

Serenity in SC – Traditional Home on Lake Murray
Sleeps: 8
Bedrooms: 4
Bathrooms: 3.5

I have many fond memories of our family lake house on Lake Murray, just outside of Colombia, SC. When we weren’t relaxing on the dock, my brothers and I were swimming across the cove to our friend’s house or exploring one of the islands on this sparkly clean, man-made lake. This place is perfect for families and close to the Riverbanks Zoo for a different and- dare I say- educational outing with your crew. Rental also grants you access to the community pool, walking trails, and tennis courts.
Whether you’re spending the Fourth of July weekend with family, friends, or your special someone, hug the ones you love a little tighter for our men and women serving our country far from home and remember the reasons we’re able to celebrate our nation’s independence together.
