The Laser To Know About This Spring
We chatted with Dr. Donald Sudy about today’s laser treatments, which offer noticeable results with minimal downtime. To restore your youthful glow, fight sun spots, shrink pores and even smooth fine lines, he recommends the Halo Fractional Laser.
Unlike other skin resurfacing techniques, this laser treatment offers a short recovery time free of burn wounds and ointments. Thanks to a topical anesthetic on the area to be treated, and the laser’s “integrated cooling technology,” most patients experience very little discomfort during a Halo treatment. Some describe it as a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations.
After your treatment, you can expect two to three days of swelling followed by three to four days of being red or pink. By day three or four your skin will peel, leaving your new, youthful skin is ready for its debut. Check out the photos below for a glimpse into the healing process:
If you need to get out and about in the days after your treatment but are nervous about your pink skin, Evolve sells a special makeup that can be used during recovery.
Depending on your amount of sun damage, Dr. Sudy generally recommends two or three treatments to achieve the best results.
Because of its ability to improve texture, Halo is most commonly done on the face. Dr. Sudy said it can also be done on the neck and chest, but you may experience longer-lasting redness in those areas.
Patients commonly see the greatest pigmentary improvement in the first couple of weeks, but results last for years to come (with proper UV protection).
Other facts to note
• For a couple of weeks prior to your Halo treatment, Dr. Sudy suggests using an Alastin Skincare kit (available for purchase at Evolve) that’s designed specifically for laser resurfacing patients. The kit will get your skin conditioned for faster healing and better results, and can be used during the healing phase, Dr. Sudy said.
• NOW is the time to book a Halo treatment, because your skin is likely still white from winter and lasers do NOT work on tan skin. “This is something you need to have done before the season change when you’re going to be outside more, because once you have an active tan, we can’t do laser treatments,” Dr. Sudy said.
SPECIAL OFFER FOR SCOOP READERS If you book an appointment with Evolve and mention you read about Halo laser treatments on Scoop, Dr. Sudy is offering two Halo treatments for $2,200 (it’s normally $1,500 a treatment) PLUS the Alastin skincare system ($345 value).
More options to get ready for spring and summer with Evolve:
• BBL Treatment: BroadBand Light or BBL treatments can fix sun spot, diffuse redness and spider veins.
Dr. Sudy said BBL can be done anywhere on the body, and patients often get their neck, chest and hands done to reverse sun damage.
• CoolSculpting: This popular non-invasive treatment is great for controlling those little bulges that diet and exercise just won’t touch. Recovery time is extremely minimal.
• HCG weight loss: Evolve’s revolutionary diet plan involving Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) injections can help patients lose up to a pound a day.
• Evolve also offers a range of peels, vein treatments, Botox and more. Call today to find out what Evolve can do for you.
