The dreaded “Four-O” is creeping closer. Eek! And of course with that number hanging over my head, everything I read or watch is about hormonal changes and all the other things that you really don’t want to hear about. There’s loss of skin elasticity, the onset of wrinkles and lines, then there’s hair loss, skin pigmentation and more. Being a beauty fanatic, I have been overly obsessing about what I need to do to put a stop to all that can happen. Here is what is on my list for “must haves” for your 40+ years.
Skin plumping serum and cream –
Yes, you need both. Serums have the ability to penetrate much deeper into your skin and will attack target areas at a faster pace. Creams are the topping to add that finishing touch to as well as to protect. For a serum, I would highly recommend the new ‘Blue Serum,’ by Chanel. It has 3 ingredients (green coffee, olive, and lentisk) from the ‘blue zones,’ otherwise known as the regions of the world where people live the longest. This serum recently hit the market and the reviews have been phenomenal. ‘Blue Serum’ smoothes out wrinkles, evens skin tone, and even firms the skin, too. I mean, it’s pretty much a miracle in a bottle. To add the finishing touch, top it off with Amore Pacific’s ‘Future Response Age Defense Cream with SPF 30.’ A cream with SPF is simply not an option. If you want to stop the signs of aging you must first protect yourself from the environment aggressors.
Lashes
Let’s talk my about my favorite part, lashes. Yes, with age we all have hair loss and this includes eyelashes and brows. Start taking care of your lashes now by washing off your makeup on a nightly basis. Leaving your mascara and eye make up on while you sleep will cause your lashes to get dry and eventually break. In fact, beyond washing off your makeup you should make sure that your eye makeup remover is conditioning. My favorite is Kate Somerville’s ‘TruLash’ lash Enhancing Eye Makeup Remover. This double action formula removes makeup and strengthens and promotes lash growth. On top of regular makeup removal you can use a conditioning lash primer. Lash Food can be used two times daily and sculpts, boosts, and nourishes lashes. It’s perfect to put on right before your mascara. If you are looking for only one product to give you the most results, invest in ‘Rodan + Fields Lash Boost’. This serum will get you some tremendous results. In thirty days or less you will see not only lash growth, but fullness as well. This serum nourishes the hair lash follicles and promotes lash growth. So, if you are like me, you will have all 3 of these products on your counter.
Your Neck Over 40
Ok, so we have plumped our face and thickened our lashes so now it’s time to work on our neck. Ugh, it’s the worst – losing elastisticy in your neck and jaw line, which I think they refer to as ‘a chicken neck.’ What an awful name. Who wants to look like a chicken? Forty years of gravity doing its job and loss of elasticity is bound to happen. Here is what I found for the best remedies to prevent and somewhat correct nature’s way. ‘Strivectin TL Advanced Tightening Neck Cream’ is on the top of my “want” list. It has amazing reviews for instant visible lift in the neck and profile area. It hydrates and smooths the skin, making it tighter and improving the visible effects of aging.
Age and Sun Spots
Lastly, if you are around my age, the chances are high that you lay in a tanning bed or coated your skin with baby oil to tan in the sun, so be prepared for some sun spots to slowly pop out. My ultimate favorite is Clinique’s ‘Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector.’ It is a multi-functional serum that works to brighten and even out the skin tone. This serum another they should call a miracle in a bottle. I have used it in the past, and I can confirm it works. However, you must use it religiously every morning and night if you want to see results.
So, bottom line is, we all are going to see some signs of aging, that’s no secret. However, depending on how diligent you are with your beauty routine, you can slow down, halt, or maybe even ever so slightly reverse the aging process.
