Va Da Vie Gelato
Located in Park Road Shopping Center, in the middle of the parking lot near CO and the Cigar Store, this tiny store front is easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. Be sure to find it. Va da Vie is completely committed to flavor, ingredients and quality. Gelato is known to offer more flavor, creamier, more dense texture, less air whipped in and lower milk fat content than ice cream, and Va de Vie doesn’t disappoint. The interior is crisp, cool and modern and the seasonal flavors are amazing.Fun Fact: They only use local dairy for the milk and cream and churn their frozen delights daily. They do not use pre-made syrups bases or mixes; every flavor is made with REAL ingredients.
Two Scoops Creamery
Because who wouldn’t love a double-cone filled with artisan ice cream? This is a very fun shop filled with funky paintings that the kids will absolutely love. There are a few benches outside along with more paintings, which makes this place a superb place to take artsy photos and do you IG shares. Flavor recommendation: Cookie Monster and Birthday Cake…..tasting by Jess from @sliceofjess
Golden Cow Creamery
Two accountants started an ice cream shop and the rest is history. Get ready to spark those childhood memories with flavors like Dunk-a-Roo, Lucky Charms and my personal favorite, Salted Oreo.
Who remembers Ch0co Tacos? Yeah, they offer these too….tasting by Jess from @sliceofjess
King of Pops
Can’t got wrong with any King of Pops flavor. Of the 25 fruity and creamy seasonal flavors available right now, Grapefruit Mint and Pineapple Habanero are favorites, but our all time pick is their Blackberry Basil Lemonade. Find KOP around town ~ at their POP SHOP in South End, in their carts around town like at JJ’s and Clean Catch, at various Farmers Markets and local events. How to know where to get your KOP fix? Follow them on social media or visit their webpage here. You know they’re good when they have cocktails being developed around their pops, right?
PopBar
Here at this NODA favorite, you will find the freshest, high quality ingredients that contribute to the unique taste and quality of their products. When visiting, you’ll have your choice of the classic popgelato or you can opt for a lighter note by choosing the popsorbetto or Yogurtpop. If you’re in the mood to #treatyoself, we highly recommend the popwhich – a gelato sandwich on a stick. Yum…..tasting by Jess from @sliceofjess
Ninety’s Ice Cream & Sandwiches
Instafamous for their giant macaron style ice cream sandwiches and ice cream pops, this University area restaurant and sweets shop has a lot of fun with their ice cream.
Don’t miss Ninety’s Saturday July 1st kick off for the Holiday weekend = they’re throwing a red carpet party to release limited edition flavors with DJ Kashmir, giveaways, a pop up clothing stand by Yavenchi.co and more delicious treats for you ALL DAY starting at 2:00pm.
Whit’s Frozen Custard
This custard counter in DAVIDSON is just as described, a counter. There isn’t much room to eat inside… but we promise you that it’s worth the visit. The only way we can describe frozen custard is that it’s simply extra creamy ice cream with TONS of flavor. If this will be your first time trying custard, we recommend keeping it simple and trying their Chocolate or Vanilla flavors. They have a rotating weekly special that’s usually on point as well.….per Jess from @sliceofjess
Elizabeth Creamery
Elizabeth Creamery is a classic, a small mom & pop homemade ice cream shop near Carpe Diem. No frills, just good ice cream. Famous for their freshly, store baked waffle cones whose baking aroma scents the small store all day long.
Jolly Rolls
Charlotte’s most interesting entry in the frozen treat category is in Waxhaw, featuring ROLLED ICE CREAM. Best understood by watching them make a serving (you can see a short video on their Facebook page here), ice cream rolls are hand made with milk poured on an iced “grill”, with ingredients chopped up and mixed in on the ice-pan then rolled up into ice cream rolls. East Asian in origin (so says wikipedia at least) and a delicious change of pace and style.
