5 Local Running Clubs You Need to Check Out

NoDa Brewing Company Run Club – Beer after run = workout and fun. If this sounds like you, then you need to check out the Wednesday night run club at NoDa Brewing Company where you can choose from a 1, 3 or 5 mile route that begins and ends at the taproom. Toast your victory with new and old friends alike; run happens rain or shine at 6:30 p.m. weekly.

Running Book Club – Annnnnd on the flip side – runners and readers won’t want to miss this unique get together, which starts off with a run, and ends with a discussion about the book of the month (though this happens every-other month). Pick your own distance and run the McMullen Four Mile Lower McAlpine Creek Greenway, and end with drinks, apps and book chat at Growler USA. More info here:

Whitewater Center Thursday Run & River Jam – Take to the trails on this weekly opp for outdoor enthusiasts. Choose from a 1.5, 3 or 6 mile run through the trails, then plan to stick around and jam it out with live music. Locker rooms and showers available for use; guests must pay a $5 parking fee or obtain an annual parking pass for $40.

The Sunday **Long Run** – If your definition of Sunday Funday means running 12 (or ducking out for a few of those – shhhh!!) starting at 7 a.m., then read on! Log some serious miles and meet some fun people in this weekly run that meets up at the Greenway at Piper Glen across from Starbucks. Find out more and sign up here:

Lenny Boy Run Club – Run and refresh with some beneficial ‘booch at this run club which happens each Sunday at noon. 1, 3 and 4 mile routes options are available, as is an 11 a.m. “Sip & Sweat” workout for those overachievers (or those who happened to – ahem – imbibe too much the night before) who are looking for a double workout for the day.

Happy Running Charlotte!
