Cooling Things Down with Whites and Cool Colors for the Home.

You know we’re having a weird summer when mid-August temps in the mid-80’s felt like a cool front. That humidity tho. We’ve been melting all week. Just can’t stop gazing longingly at pinterest pages like this one:

Hopefully the dog days are oh oh ver, and we’ll head straight from this week’s temps into cooler fall times. But since this is the south, we’re pretty sure you can count on another heat wave in your future. Before it hits, consider cooling things off with something bright and white, or pale and pastel to bring the indoor “heat” down in your home. We reached out to  Lauren Clement, of local interior design firm Lauren Nicole Designs  for her thoughts on why so many designers and their customers love a white, light look. Lauren’s thoughts are:

White and pale tones accentuate the natural light that can pour into a room

Using lighter, cooler tones gives the appearance that a room is much larger than it may be

Painting built-ins and fireplaces white or cream in addition to the walls will make the room feel larger and more cohesive. It also gives the client the option to switch up accessories like pillows and throws more often

Cool tones give a feeling of calmness and serenity to a room—this is especially important in the bedrooms

Blues, whites and greens give you a feeling of being cooler—which is perfect for the hot summer months.

We shopped a couple of our favorite stores for some whites and pale shades you can buy right now to cool things off in your home.
