THURSDAY

Movies on the Deck: The Big Sick

What to Do This Weekend in Charlotte

Send off the last day of summer with a movie under the stars. Charlotte Center City and Susie Films team up for this parking garage viewing of “The Big Sick”. The free viewing is made complete with live music before the movie, brews for purchase from Blue Blaze Brewing and JJ’s Red Hots’ Frank the Tank food truck.

Festival in the Park
September 22-24 | Freedom Park

A Charlotte staple since 1964, Festival in the Park will bring local art, entertainment stages, carnival activities and more to Freedom Park. Charlotte Symphony: Beethoven Symphony No. 9
Belk Theater | Friday and Saturday: 7:30 p.m., Sunday: 2:30 p.m.

Experience Beethoven’s final symphony, and a few familiar tunes, in a whole new way. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Mecktoberfest

Sugar Creek Fall Fest/Fall into Dessert Festival

Prepare for a full day of fall brews, live music, a pig roast and more as part of Sugar Creek’s Fall Fest. The fun continues with tempting offerings from over 20 of Charlotte’s bakeries and vendors at the Dessert Festival.

Greater Charlotte Heart Walk
First Ward Park | 7:30 a.m.

Join in the fight against heart disease and stroke with the Greater Charlotte Heart Walk, starting at First Ward Park. After the walk, stick around for activities, a kids zone and more.

Wu’s Oyster Roast
WU’s Cajun Sea Food | 3 p.m.

It’s a party in the parking lot at Wu’s with live music $10 oyster trays, cold beer and a great cause. A portion of the proceeds support the Greater Houston Community Foundation to benefit those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

Fall Festival
NoDa Farmers Market | 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Stop by the market for free samples of locally sourced goodies, fresh produce and a special performance by Opera Carolina at 10 a.m.

Bearden Music Series
Romare Bearden Park | 6 p.m.

The final concert in this year’s Bearden Music Series features Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band. Admission is free with food vendors on site.
