The lake’s stein hoisting competition is back at The Kilted Buffalo, just in time for Octoberfest. See who wins from both the guys and girls divisions, and stick around for the beer.

On Golden Pond
Armour Street Theatre | Thursday – Sunday

See what happens when a woman and her 13-year-old-son crash her parents’ otherwise quiet summer getaway in this classic American comedy and drama. Tickets begin at $20.

Carolina BalloonFest
260 Hangar Dr., Statesville | Friday – Sunday

The sights will be worth the drive to this weekend’s Carolina BalloonFest. Over 50 colorful hot air balloons are scheduled to launch twice daily. Ready your camera to snap the best pic and relax on the lawn in lawn chairs and blankets.

Shop High-End Mercantile at Pete & Pop’s Findery
605 C Jetton Street, Davidson | Open Monday through Friday, 10 AM – 6 PM, Saturday, 10 AM – 5 PM, and Sunday, 12 PM – 4 PM.

As rare as a flying pig, Pete & Pop’s Findery has landed in Davidson. The high-end, modern day mercantile offers unique finds for adults and children including handcrafted home accessories, vintage toys, locally made soaps and candles, books, bridal gifts and seasonal merchandise. The Main Street Art Exhibition

3 Family Weekend Concerts
Davidson College, Davidson | Various times

The Davidson College Music Department offers three unique programs that showcase choral ensembles, the college’s symphony orchestra and the Davidson Jazz Ensemble. All concerts are free and open to the public.

SATURDAY

Fall Community Extravaganza
Huntersville United Methodist Church, Huntersville | 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Bring the whole family out to enjoy fun fall activities, from food to a silent auction and tons of activities of the kids.

Halloween in Huntersville & Fireworks Spooktacular
Rural Hill, Huntersville

Get ready for Halloween with a day of live music, crafts, vendors and kids activities. Stick around for fireworks at 7:15 p.m. Parking for the event is $5 per vehicle. The Amazing Maize Maze will be open along with hayrides and the pumpkin patch for a set fee.

Laketoberfest Brew & Music Festival
Bailey Road Park, Cornelius | 4-9 p.m.

Back for its fifth year, Laketoberfest offers  a dozen local craft breweries, food trucks, vendors, kids activities and live music from the Jill Goodson Band, Bailey Hayes Band and LayLo.

No Shave November Beard & Beer Bash
D9 Brewing Company, Cornelius | 5-10 p.m.

Get ready for No Shave November and celebrate the best beards with live music, beer and food trucks. A portion of proceeds benefit the Carolina’s Firefighter’s Burned Children Fund and Safe Alliance. Every registration includes a free bottle of Patrick ONeil Grooming’s Face & Beard Wash.

Sherrills Ford’s Community Fall Festival
Sherrills Ford Elementary, Sherrills Ford | 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

This community event features a live bluegrass concert from The Cockman Family, local food trucks, fun for kids, hay rides and more. Admission is free.

2017 Weim and Cheese
Lucky Dog Bark & Brew LKN | 1- 5 p.m.

Support the Tarheel Weimaraner Rescue with a celebration of wine, weims and cheese. Expect a raffle, food, a silent auction, wine and cheese tastings and more.

LangTree October Movie Nights
LangTree Lake Norman, Mooresville | 7 p.m.

Grab the blankets and get ready for a thrill under the stars at LangTree. A showing of Hotel Transylvania 2 begins at dusk. Free admission and popcorn.

SUNDAY

Wine & Design for a Cause
Wine & Design, Cornelius | 2-5 p.m.

Join Wine & Design for an afternoon of painting in support of Forever Home Canine Rescue. Choose from two paintings and start your masterpiece while enjoying complimentary hors d’oeuvres and wine. $50 per person.
