OPERA CAROLINA’S new season, Enter the Illusion, begins November 4th with a classic love story of a woman torn between two suitors. The tale of Cyrano is truly timeless and has been reinvented over the years on screen ~ maybe you remember “Roxane” with Steve Martin and Darryl Hannah or the movie “Hitch” with Will Smith, Eva Mendes and Kevin James. Should Roxane choose the dashing Christian who has been using the shy Cyrano’s words to woo her? Or will Cyrano overcome his confidence issues and declare his love for Roxane before it’s too late? All. The. Drama.
“Cyrano“ is an tragicomic opera in three acts based on the play Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand. The Opera provides English subtitles for their shows, but the acting and emotion provide an interpretation strong enough to transcend language. The fact that the story of Cyrano could take place on a current season of “The Bachelor” means the production lends itself to all generations, and makes it a great show for both a date night or a good excuse for a girls night out.
We’ve got a behind the scenes look of the cast and crew getting ready for the opening of Cyrano.
