Deceit, lust, murder, revenge; no, it’s not the last episode of Scandal, it’s OPERA CAROLINA’S Rigoletto. The 2017-18 season of mischief, mayhem and mistaken identity continues and it’s just in time for a Valentine’s Day date night. Opera Carolina prides itself on bringing productions to Charlotte that will appeal to seasoned opera goers and first time visitors alike.
Opera Carolina strives to take the stuffiness out of a night at the Opera, we love the POPera Facts that they offer on their website to give patrons a connection with their shows.
Even if you’ve never seen or heard of Verdi’s tragedy, it may feel familiar. Rigoletto has been recorded by the greatest tenors in the world – and Alvin & the Chipmunks! It’s been used on Dancing with the Stars – and it’s the soundtrack for the Grand Theft Auto video game. What is it? The famous aria “La donna e’ mobile” (“Women are fickle”) sung by the player of players, the Duke of Mantua, in Rigoletto.
Performances are scheduled for:
