In a city constantly churning out new restaurants, it’s all about “doing it for the ‘gram” for many local foodies. What’s that mean? Essentially, it’s finding the most photogenic or “Instagrammable” items and getting the perfect shot (then devouring the dish or downing the drink, of course).
Here are summer 2018’s most popular food/drink Instagram shots.
Greystone Pub has been a Charlotte staple since 1947, but that doesn’t mean this local joint can’t keep up with the trends. They introduced their Capri Stones early summer, and Charlotte rejoiced.
The powerhouse bakery released their macaron ice cream sandwiches just in time for the summer season. Try the dairy-and-gluten-free Lemon Lavender or the indulgent Salted Caramel Brownie. Don’t forget to take a pic!
Inizio’s Neapolitan-style pizzas may be the most Instagrammable pizzas in Charlotte. Make sure you try the seasonal pie (Limone Capra) while it’s around.
Poke hit Charlotte hard with multiple poke-focused restaurants opening in the last year. You’ll find these bowls of marinated raw fish all over the ‘gram, including beauties like this from Seoul Poke Bowl.
Shake Shack has been open for months, and photos of their burgers, shakes, and cheese fries are still all over our feeds. No complaints here.
When this Atlanta favorite opened here in Charlotte, the city flocked to get their hands on Superica’s stretchy cheese. Thus, many impressive cheese-pull shots emerged.
The crowds have gone wild over Hello, Sailor on Lake Norman. Every inch of this space is photogenic, especially the tiki drinks and interior decor.
Avocado toast is all the rage, and Undercurrent Coffee’s take is no exception. Did you even go to this Plaza Midwood coffee shop if you didn’t Instagram this tasty toast?
The Cold Brew Slushee from Cuplux is the perfect summertime caffeine fix. Try it in Vanilla or the rotating flavor (currently Maple). But make sure you get that Insta shot before enjoying.
Allie Papajohn is the creator and face-behind-the-food on EatDrinkCLT’s Instagram and blog. She is constantly thinking about her next delicious meal and enjoys spreading the word about Charlotte’s culinary scene.
