Lake Norman ~ Lobsterfest, Food Truck Jam, Learn to Paddleboard, Chop Like a Chef or Knit This Week in LKN 6/3

The forecast for this weekend is that it won’t feel like we are standing on the surface of the sun.

We’ve rounded up some perfect low 80s activities including outdoor concerts and festivals. But, leave some time for self improving; maybe this is the week you learn to knit, paddleboard, or slice and dice in the kitchen like you mean it.

THURSDAY, June 6

Open Swim
The Quarry at Carrigan Farms
The Quarry at Carrigan Farms, is a natural, spring fed, body of water and a favorite spot for those wanting to cool off in the summer. The Quarry only has open swim on select dates and times. Remember no credit cards.

Lobsterfest
Mooresville Golf Course
Enjoy delicious food and plenty of fun. The annual event is a significant source of support for the Mooresville Soup Kitchen.

LangTree Lake Norman (Exit 31)
Featuring Joystick – pop hits of the 80s. Come prepared to dance and sing along.

Music On Main
Town Hall Lawn
Jam out every month from May through October at Town Hall Lawn. This Friday features “The Legacy MoTown Revue”.

Beaver Dam Food Truck Jam
Beaver Dam Historical Home, Davidson
Family friendly gathering is so much fun and features local LKN vendors and live entertainment. Leashed pets welcome too.

Friday night features the Party Parrot Band.

Little Chef’s Day + Live Music
Huntersville Growers Market
Come learn to cook with Chef Matt for free, (ages 5-12). Session start times: 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. last approx 40 mins. Live music by Charlotte Folk Society.

Intro to Paddle Boarding on Mountain Island Lake
Latta Nature Reserve (Boat Harbor – meet at the Paddlesport Pavilion)
Don’t let another LKN summer pass you by without learning how to paddleboard. Learn the strokes, maneuvers, and rescue techniques of SUPs with ACA certified instructors. All equipment provided.

Concerts on the Green
Village Green, Davidson
Saturday features the Band of Oz which includes a full horn section.

Perfect LKN summer night out, 6:00 p.m.

Knife Skills Workshop
Williams Sonoma, Birkdale Village
A sharp edge, the correct grip, proper placement and safety – these are all part of good knife skills. This exciting class will begin with correct positioning – of you, your knife and the food – then move on to serious slicing, dicing and chopping. Plus, you’ll head home with two of the most important knives for your collection.

Sunday Funday with Jacob Triplet
Boatyard Eats, Cornelius
Lively fun – especially with all of the windows open. Make sure to check the food truck schedule too.

Main Street Hooks

Main Street Hooks is a free and open book and knitting club brought to readers by Main Street Books in partnership with Davidson’s forthcoming craft store Hearts on Fiber that meets at the bookstore monthly for an hour of communal knitting and audiobook enjoyment.
