Classic Blue, Pantone’s 2020 Color of the Year, is described by Pantone as “elegant in its simplicity. Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of the thought-provoking Classic Blue highlight our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.”
The New York Times shares that “The blue of 2020 is not Cerulean (the company’s first pick, back in 2000), Aqua Sky (2003), Blue Turquoise (2005), Blue Iris (2008) nor Serenity (which shared the 2016 title with Rose Quartz). It’s Classic Blue, a darker, more familiar shade…”
While it’s been criticized for being too corporate by some, a safe blue like those used in logos, we love the color. Blue complements many colors, neutrals and brights, layering blues is easy & fun, and mixing patterns is easy with a shade as popular as blue. We particularly love blues in decor, and we found local and online items we love that are close enough to “classic” for us.
