Even when it’s not risky to be out and about, decorating your home can be overwhelming. Going from place to place, trying to visualize how it will look in the room, mentally comparing one item to another … it’s a lot. For many of us, buying original art is an even greater challenge, especially if you love the way a lot of different art pieces look in the gallery, but aren’t sure which one will look best in your home.
Sometimes a COVID pivot works out though. Hannah Blanton and the team at SOZO Gallery have created a Virtual Installation option, so that you can safely see your favorite pieces in your home, exactly where you think you want them to go. Here’s how it works:
First, visit the Sozo website to peruse their art available. Click on ARTISTS and then click thru to see available works by each artist. Along with the prices, which is a bonus when you are trying to shop & decide all online, right? You will know what you can afford within your general price range, which is nice. Although of course, your most favorite will be surely be out of your budget, because that is THE WAY. So keep an open mind.
Virtual Installation by Sozo Gallery
- Write down the name of the painting and the artist that you are interested in “seeing”.
- Take a decent photo of the wall(s) you are considering it for.
- Measure the dimensions of your wall and how high your ceiling is in that space. If you are specifically placing the art behind something like a sofa or piece of furniture, you may as well measure that while you have the tape out, as it will help the gallery place your art.
- Email your photo with this info, the name of the artist and particular piece you are interested in plus your dimensions and measurements, to gallery@sozogallery.net with the subject line VIRTUAL INSTALLATION REQUEST.
The gallery staff will reply back with any questions and to confirm their understanding of your request. Then they’ll “place” your art in your room photo so you can see how it will look. It’s easy, and really fun.
We did this recently with SOZO when we were in search of a large painting for a blg, blank wall in our den. I picked out several works that I liked, and that I thought would work well. I knew we wanted abstract, big, and had a general price range. I also said…”no pink”.
Hannah and her team modeled my picks and their suggestions in the space for me. Here they are: (please excuse the lack of staging in my den ~ didn’t realize these photos would be for publication :0)
This helped us narrow our choices down quite a bit, although I have to admit I still liked them all. What about you? Do you have a favorite?

Which One Did We Pick?
The piece we purchased is called Alchemy, by Chris Brandell. Alchemy – a magical process of transformation. Which of course, has just that burst of pink, so I guess they know their clients better than they know themselves!
Very discretely under the layers of this piece you’ll find 2 words written upside down. Sex  Power . You KNOW I love that sly reference.
What an appropriate time to have women come together, and realize things about each other’s business neither of us knew before. Reach out to Sozo today and see something new in your life!
