We’ll try not to say it (…”the holidays will look different this year“…) but of course they will. Here are some trends for Holidays 2020 that the experts tell us we’ll be incorporating into our decorating, gifting and plans and some fab items we shopped in the local stores.
- Maximalism. People are planning to go all out with their decorations this year, so even though small celebrations will be the norm, the decorating efforts will be BIG.
- Using one Color Theme Throughout continues, though it’s rarely red & green anymore.
- Gold, Silver, Platinum are paired with unusual picks like navy, bright pink, pale pink, cobalt. And gold Christmas trees are a thing this year.
- White Christmas is going nowhere anytime soon. Neutrals & snowy accents are here to stay.
- Eco-friendly Christmas with Fabric wrapping & Reusable Cloth Gift Bags. This is part of a trend that has been rising for a few years now, but really feels right this year. Anthropolgie is already sold out of their cloth holiday wrapping, but a quick search for furoshiki wraps and drawstring cloth gift bags on etsy will hook you up.
- DIY decorations that YouTube brings your family will double as entertainment over the next few weeks, the perfect flipside to a spending shopping frenzy.
- Organic, natural and even rustic themes and materials also abound. Part of our hunkering down at home.
- Also, Retro Inspired decor is having a moment. Breakout your granny’s & mom’s vintage stuff, and accent with good old fashioned big multi colored lights. Yes, we long for the good old days.
- Designed & Themed Tablescapes keep your small, safe holiday dinner(s) festive and celebratory. Of course it will match the rest of the 2020 decor theme you choose. Or not 🙂
- Anything Goes. Seriously, give yourself a break. Do what makes you & yours happy in this year to end all years and give yourselves a huge pat on the back for making it through.
