Our Charlotte Margaritas Guide

One of our favorite unofficial holidays is near — National Margarita Day. This year, it falls on Taco Tuesday and the Palindrome 2/22/22, which gives us all the more reason to get out and celebrate. We searched the Charlotte area and beyond for the best margaritas and tequila-based cocktails to help you decide where to go. Here’s what we found:

Best Margarita’s in Charlotte

Mariposa
500 S Tryon St.

Formerly Halycon, Mariposa (located in the Mint Museum Uptown) offers a revolutionary dining experience with food from across the world. With dinner, order their Fuego Roca Tierra for a little sweet and spicy on National Tequila Day. Made with, watermelon shrub, house-made mango habanero syrup, and fresh watermelon. Colorful, IG worthy, and sure to have your taste buds dancing.

800° Woodfired Kitchen
6815 Phillips Place Ct.

In SouthPark, 800° Woodfired Kitchen offers flavorful food and delicious margarita options to complete National Margarita Day. Head down for dinner and try the Margarita Ariel, with Don Julio Tequila, Cointreau, fresh strawberry reduction, sliced jalapeño, fresh lemon and lime juice. Delicious.

Fine & Fettle
4905 Barclay Downs Dr.

Fine & Fettle offers tequila-based cocktails created by David Schmidty that will certainly help you celebrate the holiday. Try the Rhurbarbo made with tequila, rhubarb, lime, tamarind, and Cointreau. Another favorite is the You’re my boy, Blue made with tequila, blueberries, basil, and lime. 

401 Social
401 E M.L.K. Jr Blvd

Gather at 401 Social, a perfect social spot located in Uptown across the street from the NASCAR Hall of Fame. While you’re there, try their Charred Jalapeño Margarita with Tequila Blanco, chipotle, cilantro and citrus.

Paco’s Tacos & Tequila
6401 Morrison Blvd #8a

Toast the holiday with something spicy from Paco’s Tacos & Tequila by ordering the Poblano Chili Margarita made with three-pepper tequila, orange liqueur, lime, dry
vermouth, orange bitters & house sour. In the mood for something sweet instead? Try the Pineapple Mint Margarita with pineapple and mint-infused Lunazul Blanco, house sour, & pineapple juice shaken with mint leaves & topped with a splash of Sprite.

Spindle Bar
1115 N Brevard St.

Celebrate National Margarita Day at Spindle Bar located inside of Optimist Hall. Opt in for a traditional marg with Blanco Tequila, lime, agave, and sea salt. Want something sweeter? Ask to add prickly pear for only $1 more.

El Thrifty

Head to Optimist Hall to enjoy games and sips at El Thrifty. Order the King Eddie with Olmeca Altos Plata, rosé, orange and lime served frozen, or keep it classic with the El Thrify Margarita.

Ruru’s Tacos & Tequila

Not in the mood to go out? You can still get delicious margs from Ruru’s by ordering a gallon of their margarita mix to take home with you. Add in your favorite tequila to the alcohol-free mix and you have your very own RuRu’s marg.

Bulla Gastrobar

At this festive and well known spot in SouthPark, order the Spanish Margarita (Jimador Reposado, Amontillado sherry, triple sec, lime juice, agave nectar) or the Lavendar Margarita for something sweet (Lunazul Blanco Tequila, lime juice, triple sec, lavender syrup).

A variety of margaritas can be found at Taco Mama in Dilworth, frozen and pitchers of on the rocks. Try delicious flavors like the spicy jalapeño margarita, a sweet pomegranate margarita, or the bubbles of the Prosecco fizz. View all options here.

Dot Dot Dot
4237 Park Road B

While you can certainly order a marg here, you can also enjoy this speakeasy’s take on a tequila cocktail Thai Pepper Paloma, made with reposado tequila, spicy ruby red syrup, lime, jarritos grapefruit soda and served over ice.

1900 Mexican Grill
1523 Elizabeth Ave., 5110 Park Rd #1e, (Charlotte)

At either location of 1900 Mexican Grill, choose from one of their fruity margaritas, or keep it classic with the house margarita. Pair it with $2.50 tacos for the perfect night out.

Bakersfield
1301 East Blvd

This East Boulevard spot features a variety of fruity margaritas, including a pineapple margarita with El Jimador Blanco, Licor 43, pineapple, agave nectar and fresh lime.

Cabo Fish Taco
3201 N Davidson St. & 11611 N Community House Rd., (Charlotte)

At Cabo Fish Taco, enjoy margaritas frozen or on the rocks made with their fresh squeezed house mix. Toast to Charlotte by ordering their Queen City Margarita featuring Lunazul Blanco Silver tequila, triple Sec, blood orange puree, and house mix with a splash of Sprite.

Mal Pan

You can’t go wrong with a marg from Mal Pan. Add a kick to your margarita with their new Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita made with Lunazul Primero Tequila, Cointreau, cucumber, jalapeño, and housemade sour.

Bargarita

Plenty of frozen and on the rocks margarita options can be found at Bargarita in NoDa, including their Miami Marg with Blanco tequila, mango, peach, orange, and lime juice.

Chuy’s

In Waverly, Chuy’s boasts a variety of margarita flavors for you to choose from, both frozen and on the rocks. In honor of National Margarita Day, for just $2 extra make any regular House Rocks or Frozen ‘Rita a Grande and keep the commemorative cup. Or add a $1 Floater to top off your favorite margarita with an extra pour of tequila.

Take a getaway to the heart of Charlotte where you can enjoy flavorful margarita options and events all week long. Lucky for us, National Margarita Day lands on a Tuesday, which means tacos, tequila, and live music at SouthBound. Order the Blood Orange Margarita (Hornitos, blood orange puree, lime, agave) and listen to live music from The Abbey Elmore Band from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. all while relaxing on their spacious patio.

Sabor Latin Street Grill

Sabor Latin Grill is always on our list when it comes to grabbing tacos and margaritas. Choose from their Amigos Margarita, Sabor Margarita or Mucho Sabor Margarita. Don’t forget to order $1.49 tacos as part of Taco Tuesday while you’re at it.

Hot Taco

At Hot Taco, every Tuesday is a celebration. Find $3 Margaritas, $4 Dos Equis, and $2 tacos on Tuesdays. Another popular option for margarita lovers is is the build-your-own margarita. Start off with a regular margarita and add your own flavor (passion fruit, mango, blood orange, huckleberry, raspberry, peach or strawberry), add a float (grand marnier, pama pomegranate, Licor 43, St. Elderflower, Midori or Chambord) and add a flip (coronita or Sparkling Brut). Yum.

El Toro

Celebrate the holiday without breaking the bank. Head to El Toro in Cornelius for $3.99 margaritas on the rocks.

Taco Molino
1328 Broadcloth St. #102, Fort Mill, SC

Located in Fort Mill, Taco Molino offers a variety of options when it comes to ice-cold margaritas. Start with the El Classico on the rocks or frozen, and then try one of the specialties, such as the Smokey Margarita with Union Mezcal, Ancho Reyes, orange and lime juice, jalapeño and agave.

Improper Pig
Rea Farms and Fort Mill, SC

Enjoy your BBQ with a kick at The Improper Pig. Try their spicy margarita made with House Infused Jalapeno Lunazul.
