National Pancake Day is upon us, and we’re here to help you celebrate.
In honor of the holiday, we searched the Queen City and surrounding area for the best breakfasts around, and let’s just say — this list will have your mouth watering.
Mariposa
500 S Tryon St.
Breakfast hours: Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The Scoop: New to Uptown and new to the brunch scene is Mariposa, formerly Halycon. Beginning March 5, they will offer weekend brunch that will feature dishes such as a Smothered Fried Chicken Biscuit (fresh baked biscuits, fried chicken, sawmill gravy, hot sauce), Shakshuka (stewed tomatoes, barrel-aged feta, cilantro, toasted baguette) and a Pork Belly Bowl (sticky rice, kimchi, shaved cucumber, seaweed, poached egg).
While you’re there, trade in the traditional mimosa and order one of their brunch drinks instead. The Saison Mezcal Michelada with Mezcal, Victory Prima Pilsner, White Shoyu, Worcestershire powder, white pepper, housemade hot sauce, and a tajin rim is a great option to go with brunch, along with the Rosemary and Rose made with Hendrick’s Gin, Aperol, fresh grapefruit juice, muddled lime and rosemary, topped with rose champagne, garnished with a rosemary stem and flower petals.
Angelines

Breakfast hours: Open 7 a.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. on weekends
The Scoop: Angeline’s isn’t just a hot spot for dinner, but for breakfast as well. Served 7 days week, you can find something for everyone on their breakfast menu. For something on the sweeter side, order the Honey Ricotta Waffle with blueberry jam, lemon-brown sugar creme,and toasted walnuts. Another great option is the Angeline’s Breakfast with two eggs your style, confit potato, choice of breakfast meat, and toast. Yum.
Fern, Flavors from the Garden

Breakfast hours: Open for brunch, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The Scoop: A healthy alternative to pancakes is vegan sticky bun jewels from Fern, Flavors from the Garden. If you’re not in the mood for something sweet, they offer other vegan and vegetarian breakfast items such as their Chilaquiles, Chick’n & GF Waffles, and Breakfast Sando with tofu scramble and coconut bacon.
Fine & Fettle
4905 Barclay Downs Dr.
Breakfast hours: Every day from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m.
The Scoop: A favorite in Charlotte, Fine & Fettle has a breakfast menu that has something on it for everyone. If you’re in a pancake mood, order their Sweet Potato Pancakes with candied bourbon pecans, chantilly, maple syrup. Other must-haves are the pulled pork benedict with buttermilk biscuit, Eastern NC pulled pork, poached eggs, and Texas Pete hollandaise; and the fried PB&J with brulee bananas, strawberry cinnamon compote, and blueberry whipped cream.

The Scoop: Your stay at The Morehead Inn is complete with complimentary breakfast catered from Charlotte’s local caterer Something Classic.
Fahrenheit

The Scoop: With the Charlotte skyline in the background, enjoy these cap’n crunch pancakes during Sunday brunch made with vanilla milk reduction and sugar.
La Belle Helene

The Scoop: La Belle Helene offers a variety of timeless French delicacies for brunch. If you’re in the mood for something on the sweeter side and similar to pancakes, order their banana fosters french toast with pure maple syrup and whipped french butter, or the Gaufres Brûlées made with a french waffle, vanilla cream, strawberry syrup, and pistachio florentines.
Tupelo Honey

The Scoop: You can’t go wrong with their Mountain Blueberry Griddle ~ choose from a scratch-made buttermilk waffle or sweet potato pancakes, topped with scratch-made blueberry compote, fresh blueberries, whipped cream, and powdered sugar.
Haymaker

The Scoop: An Uptown go-to for weekend brunch. Try the Brasstown Beef Burger made with house-made potato bun, smoked cheddar, pickled red onions, butter lettuce & tomato jam.

The Scoop: Okay, pancakes might not be on the menu at this South End hotspot, but you’ll find other breakfast favorites including a breakfast sandwich, french toasted blueberry muffins, and their newest addition — Chicken & Donuts with sweet tea brined and fried chicken legs, caramel-filled and glazed donuts with Nutella spread, while supplies last.
Ruby Sunshine
332 W Bland St.
Breakfast hours: Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m – 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 7:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The Scoop: Choose from a pancake of the day, or choose a signature flavor like the cinnamon swirl pancakes or the white chocolate bread pudding pancakes.
Leroy Fox

The Scoop: Southern inspired brunch can be found at this South End hot spot. A must have is their Chicken & Waffles with fried chicken breast, peach compote, over-easy egg, belgian waffle, and maple syrup. Yum.
Lincoln’s Haberdashery

The Scoop: This South End hangout offers a stuffed flapjack with lemon ricotta, pure maple syrup and berries. Delicious

The Scoop: Enjoy a classic at The Stanley — buttermilk pancakes, pure maple syrup and bacon.

The Scoop: It might not be your traditional pancake breakfast but definitely is worth your try is their Vanilla Custard Filled French Toast with candied pecans, seasonal fruit, and Vermont Maple Syrup.
ROOTS Cafe

The Scoop: A South End favorite, ROOTS Cafe serves breakfast and brunch all day, every day. Delicious menu options include the Basic B (two over easy eggs, your choice of bacon, sausage, or vegan sausage, and Roots’ Hash or latke) and Croque Croissant (flaky croissant, shaved ham, parmesan, provolone, fried egg, spicy brown mustard and a touch of honey).
Cafe Monte French Bakery and Bistro

Breakfast hours: Tuesday through Sunday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The Scoop: You can never go wrong brunching at this charming French bistro. French-country fares such as hot beignets, escargot and the Benedict Monte (croissant, smoked ham, two eggs, tomato, asparagus, hollandaise) lie on their Déjeuner Menu.
Original Pancake House

The Scoop: Pancake is in the name, so pancakes are their game. Get them just about any way you want; top your stack off with fresh fruit, bacon, whipped cream, chocolate chips, or even wrap them around sausage for Pigs in a Blanket.
Dish

The Scoop: Not in the pancake mood but still want something on the sweeter side? Order the French Toast from Dish, with two golden brown pieces of Challah toast topped with powdered sugar and 2 eggs, and your choice of bacon, sausage, or livermush.
Haberdish

The Scoop: Enjoy Haberdish’s signature chicken and waffles with pearl sugar and liège wale each served with your choice of honey butter syrup or maple syrup. Another favorite is waffles with fruit, made with chef’s choice of house made topping, and topped with whipped cream.

The Scoop: At Eight + Sand, you can find breakfast toasts such as the Green Goddess Avacado with vegan Green Goddess Avacado spread, sliced avocado, arugula, pickled red onion, everything bagel season, fried egg, all on a sliced country sourdough. Another toast option is the Ricotta + Jam (pictured above) with fresh ricotta made in-house, strawberry house jam, on a thick-sliced wonder sourdough.

The Scoop: A delicious new flavor of pancakes available every week, including flavors like chocolate peanut butter, raspberry white chocolate, Cannoli, banana foster, and much more. Check their Instagram page to stay up to date with their Pancake Flavor of the Week.
Bistro La Bon

The Scoop: Hungry? Head to Bistro La Bon for all you can eat brunch. Choose up to 5 items at a time per table for $23/adult, $12/kid. Options to choose from include eggs benedict, brioche french toast, shrimp and grits, chicken fried rice, and more.
Zada Jane’s Corner Cafe

The Scoop: You can’t go wrong with a stack from Zada Jane’s. Order the Pinckney Street Pancakes which has three big and fluffy buttermilk pancakes served with honey butter and syrup, plus a choice of one mornin’ side. Pro tip: you can order gluten-free pancakes for an additional charge.

The Scoop: Looking for something casual? Head to Sister in Plaza Midwood for walk-up service when grabbing your morning bite. They have everything from breakfast bowls to handmade local Greek pastries such as phyllo hand pies, croissants, baklava, Peinirli (pastrami, cheese and egg pizza boat), and more at this European-inspired all-day cafe.
