11:00- 4:00 PM

Sponsored by University City Partners, this free day-long event will offer over 50 unique experiences that serve to expand the interests and minds of children and parents on April 23 ~ including robotics, magic, yoga, martial arts, music, dance, emergency and construction vehicle tours, storybook readings, and live cultural and musical performances.

Children’s Fest attendees can join in creative, informative and kid-captivating activities, and enjoy live performances in 6 different Zones ~ Learn | Discover | Create | Go | Play | and Dance. Some of the subjects and activities in these zones include:

  • Reading, math, history, science and technology in LEARN!
  • Performing and cultural arts in DISCOVER!
  • Arts and crafts in CREATE!
  • Exploration of all things on wheels in GO!
  • Outdoor activities, exercise and healthy development in PLAY!
  • DJ and musical performances in DANCE!

This event is one of the most dynamic offerings hosted in University City,” said Interim Executive Director of University City Partners, Tobe Holmes. “It perfectly ties together our rich educational resources in UNC Charlotte and local partners, as well as the area’s commitment to enrichment and growth. Kids love it. Adults with children love it. It’s a fantastic affair that I believe has lasting benefits to all who attend.”

Charlotte Kids Fest is the only festival of its kind and scale in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region. It attracted 8,000 children and family members in 2019, up from 5,000 in its first year (the annual event offered virtual programs and performances in 2020 and 2021). The 2022 festival is made possible by the support of Atrium Health University City, Duke Energy, Walmart and many generous Charlotte businesses and organizations.

You can get there by riding the LYNX to JW Clay Blvd Station, or you can park on the campus of UNC Charlotte. More information about the event, participants, performances and parking is available online at charlottekidsfest.org and Facebook at facebook.com/CLTKidsFest
