Thanksgivukkah. So THAT’s why we need to start holiday shopping early this year!!

It’s a one in 70,000 years occurrence. Or at least that’s what I read here on the interwebs.  Thanksgiving Day and the first day of Hanukkah happen on the same day this year, which means, in fact, that some of us ARE celebrating the holidays earlier this year.  My friend Rebecca of SCMK pointed this out this morning, as she was freaking about getting all of her shopping done.  I’m like, what are you talking about? And she said Thanksgivukkah.  I said Whaguttukkah? In turns out that I am not the pop culture vulture that I thought, as I missed this entirely.

So in complete disregard for all the 11/28 holidays, or maybe to embrace the changing of holiday traditions, here are the Thanksgiving DAY big box openings in the QC, that we know of from Ely’s Blog.

Here are Thanksgiving Day opening times for major area retailers announced so far:

  • Toys ‘R’ Us : 5 pm
  • Target: 8 pm
  • Walmart: 6pm
  • Best Buy: 6 p.m.
  • Kohl’s: 8 p.m.
  • Belk: 8 p.m.
  • Kmart: 6 a.m.
  • Sears: 8 p.m.
  • Macy’s: 8 p.m.
  • J.C. Penney: 8 p.m.
  • Old Navy: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed for three hours, open again at 7 p.m.
