15 Gluten-free holiday dessert recipes

You may have noticed that it’s pretty trendy to be gluten-free these days.

Some people, such as those with Celiac Disease, have a genuine immune reaction to gluten,  and many people report they just feel better and have more energy when they avoid consuming foods that contain the substance.

With so many individuals limiting their gluten intake lately, it’s always nice to offer gluten-friendly alternatives to guests when you’re either hosting or attending a party or small gathering.

Here are 15 gluten-free holiday dessert recipes that are sure to please just about anyone…even Santa.

And now for my personal favorite gluten-free dessert…

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

 (yields about 3 dozen cookies)

2 cups almond flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground sea salt
3/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup gluten-free rolled oats
1 cup raisins

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Combine all of the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt).  Cream the shortening and brown sugar in a separate large bowl, beat in the eggs and vanilla extract, and gradually blend in the dry ingredients.  Add the oats and raisins as well.

Drop the dough by spoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet (about 1- 1 1/2 inches apart).  Bake for approximately 12 minutes and transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool.

Whether you’re on the gluten-free bandwagon or not, I think you’ll absolutely love these recipes, and you won’t even miss the gluten at all!
