You know how you can tell the age of a movie by the shoes and purses? No? Ok maybe I’ve verged from SJP wannabe dangerously close into Fashion Nerd territory. Not cool, Kallah, not cool.
Well, point is, some things are more quickly outdated than others. And when it comes to Christmas home decor – that thing is the mantel.
If you are dissatisfied with your old decor, if you’re craving something that says, “I am new! I am fresh! I am on point!” oh and “Have Yourself a Merry Christmas!”… Check out these ideas:
As you can see, the new look for the holiday mantel are refreshingly minimalist, drawing your attention to beautifully contrasting colors and clean structured lines.
Clearly, as with an outfit – to pull of this new minimalist look, you need “statement pieces” – ie, amazing and creative wreaths. The decorator’s versh of the Bubble Necklace. 😉
BD Jeffries has got you covered! These wreaths are just the last word in creative:
So cool.
We also found a sweet DIY for you ambitious types over at Vintage Revivals (seriously my FAVORITE stop for do-it-yourself-home-decor):
For the rest of the mantel decor, you are definitely going to need some fun new pieces to show off. Our shops have it in the bag, y’all.
First you can totally recreate the look in the first pic of this post with a little help from Post and Gray:
Also Cotswold Marketplace:
Love mixing old-timey vintage with the latest modern simplicity. That vintage jug would be a really cool piece to do something like this with:
And clearly, as you can see from pretty much every one of these decor inspo pics, cool candlesticks are a MUST.
Those last ones are my favorites.
Its great to have some little kitschy pieces for the mantle, especially if you’re going for the simple look. A few cool, artsy things will really stick out, and add a lot to the what I am calling “new vintage” feel.
Again – Post and Gray has these to offer:
And I really loved this crazy little owl:
Also, vintage Santa? YES.
If revamped vintage isn’t really doing it for you, fear not! Our stores have plentyyyyy of options!
I liked the preppy feel of Cottage Chic, complete with adorbs stockings:
And they really nail it with the mix of burlap and gold here:
So on point.
I am still undecided whether I will be doing the bling and burlap thing this year or the minimalist chic. The main thing though is to STAY TRUE TO YOUR STYLE – and fit the holiday decor as much as possible with the decor of your home.
Up next… the Christmas TABLE and Dining Room (I always look for fun stuff with the Buffet Table/hutch as well as the actual dinner table)!
Peace!
