Summer provides unique challenges for wavy and curly-haired girls. With high humidity plus lake, pool, and beach exposure, it’s easy for our curls to turn into a dry frizzy mess. And while we love our blow outs, nothing says summer like wash-and-go hair. So what’s a girl to do? Try hair plopping.
Hair plopping is the processing of wrapping your just-washed hair in a towel or t-shirt and then wrapping it around your head to dry. This technique allows your curls to stay intact, prevents frizz and boosts volume.
How do you do it? After washing and applying your favorite products, place your town on a flat surface and “plop” your hair down, making sure your curls are concentrated on top of your head. Once you’ve secured the towel at the nape of your neck, grab the sides of the towel and twist away from your face. When the rolls feel tight enough, twist them towards the back of your head in a bun. You can secure with a hair clip or tie as needed.
About 20 minutes later, (or longer for very thick hair) unroll your towel and make sure  not to touch your curls while they finish drying. So bring on the mermaid waves, no hair dryer needed.
