This is my third round of participating as a consignor & shopper at the Green Jeans sale in Mooresville and honestly, I can’t recall life before this. As a self proclaimed shop-a-holic, this sale is the perfect way for me to turn over my wardrobe each season. You gotta have a little income to compensate the outpour, right? However, as awesome as I know this sale is, it never surprises me when someone asks “what consignement sale”? SEEEEERIOUSLY? I get it, everyone’s busy, but I wouldn’t feel right not sharing (again) what the GJ sale is all about!
So what is this sale anyways?
Greens Jeans Consignment, a semi-annual, 5-day women’s shopping event, hosts sales in Charlotte, Lake Norman and Matthews and features new and gently worn brand name and designer clothing, shoes and accessories from petite to plus sizes, including maternity. Consignors earn 60-75% back on every sale and receive private pre-sale shopping privileges. Shoppers can expect a wide array of brand name and designer labels including: Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Lilly Pulitzer, Coach, Anthropologie, Seven for all Mankind and everyday favorites like Banana Republic, J. Crew, Chicos and LOFT.
Who organizes all of this?
It’s been 5 years since Cindy Williams and Dana Degan, sisters and co-owners of Green Jeans Consignment, hosted their very first sale in 1,500 square feet in The Fresh Market Shops in Cornelius. “We saw a great opportunity to provide a way for women to clean out their closets and get paid top dollar for these unused items. And on the flip side, shoppers purchase trendy, high quality brand name and designer fashion for a fraction of retail,” explains Williams.
The sisters have grown their business from one Lake Norman event two times per year to three events, two times per year. Shoppers and consignors can participate as far north as Mooresville, as far south as Matthews and Charlotte in the center. “It’s so much fun to reunite with our shoppers and sellers each season. They have become like family to us. They are our biggest cheerleaders, supporters and volunteers. Without them, there would be no Green Jeans Consignment,” explains Williams.
What else can I do while I am there?
Whether you plan to shop for you, your teenage daughter or your best friend, there is quite literally something for everyone. Green Jeans Consignment will have over 25,000 items for all styles, sizes (petite to plus, including maternity) and budgets. The sisters suggest scheduling a girls day/night out when visiting the sale. Next door, Main Street Antiques and Design Gallery is fun to walk through with over 300 vendors and ABSOLUTELY plan to grab lunch/dinner at Alino’s Pizza just a couple doors down inside the Mill. It has become the sister’s favorite place to grab a slice of pizza!
