Nothing says summer to me like eating BBQ with all the fixins, but it’s always so messy to serve at grown up parties and tailgating, and it’s no fun trying to balance a plate, a beer and eat a sandwich all while standing in heels on grass swatting mosquitos.
This one-dish wonder solves the balancing act at the very least, and looks adorable in the process.
You take your mason jar, layer in baked beans, slaw, Q, extra sauce and a pickle slice or spear. Â Made famous by BB’s BBQ in Kansas City (I know, I know, heresy) but apparently original to Mississippi, recipes abound on the web. Since I avoid cooking at all costs, I would pick up my favorite BBQ and all the fixin’s and start stackin’. Â But you might like to try these recipes if store-bought-for-company is against all your rules.
Dixie Delights Mason Jar BBQ Sundae Supper
Tulsa People’s Barbeque Sundae
The Pulled Pork Parfait from The Black Peppercorn
So now this has me thinking….what else can I turn into a Sundae for picnics, tailgating and patio parties?
Tacos.  Fajitas. Tex Mex Casseroles.  Meatballs & Spagetti. Shepherd’s Pie. Thanksgiving Dinner.
Pretty soon I plan to sell all my plates and go full Mason.
