Swapping a manicure for a blowout was a no-brainer for me. I have never had any tolerance with the whole blowdry-til-your-arm-loses-circulation deal. It is much easier for me to paint my own nails and rub lotion on my hands, than it is for me to get that glamorous look to my hair. The whole sensory experience at BLO BLOW DRY BAR – the massage on the scalp, the smells, the music… everything about it feels infinitely more luxurious and pampering than a manicure, and for the same price.
Furthermore, after my first blo, I was stopped at several checkout lines by cashiers and shoppers who just had to compliment my awesomely amazing hair. Ya don’t get that from a mani.
If you are worried about your blowout being gone in a day, however, I can tell you, it does not have to be so. We got some tricks and tips for you to extend your blowout at least 3-4 days (mine went five…. but I worry I shouldn’t be so proud of not washing my hair). Here’s the scoop from BLO on how to make your blo out last longer:
1. Sleep on a satin pillowcase.
Blo is now selling satin pillowcases in the store, not only because they are committed to making you feel like royalty, but because these are the healthiest things for your hair. The satin greatly reduces friction while you toss and turn, giving you healthier, less frizzy hair. And! It looks good longer in between washes. Referred to as a “nightly spa treatment for hair and skin”, a satin pillowcase will allow you to wake up with a smooth face and soft hair.
2. Use only UNITE hair products to spritz up your hair.
The best part of the UNITE products they use at Blo is not only their effectiveness – which we have covered here, here, and here – but the fact that they’re really good for your hair (not a cocktail of toxic chemicals).
This one is my new favorite for adding life to locks. The Texturiza Spray adds the works – volume, texture, fullness, and shine – with the hold of hairspray. They can barely keep it on the shelves at Blo Charlotte for a reason. Its also magic for our 3rd tip:
3. Try a sexy ponytail.
The difference between a ponytail that keeps your hair out of your face, and a ponytail that keeps your hair on point, is texture.
Its the best way to easily add some glamour to a three day old blowout.
I am a huge fan of the whole “take a one inch section of hair from the bottom of the ponytail and wrap it around the rubber-band”.
I mean.
Some easy tutorials here.
And here.
I love how they all start with telling you to blowout your hair. See? It’s kismet.
The best part of a ponytail is, it gives you room for all your personality. You can go messy, sporty, smooth, dramatic, low-key – etc etc etc. And if you haven’t read “What Your Ponytail Says About You” over on Man Repeller, do yourself a favor and go now.
